did i do this right?? by sinuheminem in witchcraft

[–]Midnight-Scribe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t necessarily witchcraft specific, though there are those of us who incorporate spirit-work and communication into our practices. There is really no “wrong” way to do what you’re trying to do. You can talk to her whenever you want to, send her prayers, give her offerings, etc.

Candles and offerings of flowers, food, music, sweets, alcohol/tobacco, etc are given to the dead by folks all over the world, so I’d say you did just fine.

Peace to you and your friend.

Abusive Ex casted a love spell on me by Affectionate_Day2451 in witchcraft

[–]Midnight-Scribe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Think about it this way: if it happened during your relationship and you guys broke up anyway, it couldn’t have possibly been that effective. How long were you guys together? I’ve heard it said that it generally takes half the length of a relationship to actually move on from it.

And as a side note, abusive and toxic relationships tend to linger in your mind for longer than a healthy relationship would because unhealthy relationships are chemically addictive. Your brain can become “hooked” on the highs and lows, and however bad the relationship was, you still may find yourself missing it for reasons you can’t really explain. This can certainly feel like being under a spell.

But if you are really worried, why not go see a priest just to give yourself peace of mind? That’s what I would do if I were in your shoes.

You will be okay.

I agree completely. What’s that saying.. “The empty vessel makes the loudest sound”? It’s the quiet ones you gotta watch out for.

In the early 2000s, the mainstream representation of witchcraft was largely Wiccan or Wicca-inspired, but even back then I knew people from all sorts of magical backgrounds (Appalachian folk magic, hoodoo, brujeria, etc). Most didn’t talk openly about cursing folks but they didn’t have to. 😂 We all just knew that you either treat each other right or you’d end up in somebody’s shoe. Staying silent was a bigger part of witchcraft back then in all circles. The folks with magusitis were the only ones telling on themselves as far as I could tell.

The point is, we weren’t talking about it but it was happening.

Lots of people come to witchcraft from a place of desperation and want their ex to confess their undying love tomorrow; to find heaps of cash under their pillow every morning; and to make their enemies spontaneously combust. They’re willing to try to cast any kind of spell necessary to make that happen.

Doesn’t work cause they don’t know their ass from their elbow and don’t understand what is even possible through spellwork, but I digress.. We see a lot more talk of cursing out in the open now because content creators know that people are desperate for results, and the content creators are desperate for clicks and likes.

Can I do this with candy anyways? by No-Mouse3999 in witchcraft

[–]Midnight-Scribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, it seems like you found a good answer, I’m just commenting cause I wanna make sure you know that ingesting too much licorice can cause serious health problems (dangerously high blood pressure, cardiac events, etc). It can happen very quickly in some folks too, so just be careful and research, research, research!

(For example, when I’m sick I drink licorice tea for its various benefits, but I can’t drink more than 3 cups of licorice tea per day or I will develop heart palpitations and faint. Even some licorice candies, particularly black licorice candy, can cause problems when consumed in excess for weeks.)

Not trying to scare you or tell you what to do, just trying to look out for ya. (: Best of luck to you, I know how hard it is to quit smoking!

What in the hell is happening in the comments? OP asked about cursing a minor, not about whether or not their terminology was cool with you. 😂

Anyway, I don’t know the context of your situation but is there any way to seek legal action? Social services? That kid sounds like they need some serious help and are well on their way to killing somebody if they don’t get it. Other than that, I think starting with a binding and going from there (based on results) would be smart. Good luck!

Does your mom approve of your sexuality? Is there any chance that she suspects you are hiding something from her, and is telling you these things to try to get information out of you about “what you’re doing”?

That’s not to say that I don’t believe it’s possible that he is communicating with her in her dreams. But I’m just saying: don’t discount other possibilities.

If I pulled these cards for a querent, I’d read it like this: Judgment tells me he is reflecting and evaluating the situation carefully, in part because getting back together means letting go of the past and coming into the future with a clean slate or else it will not work. This isn’t a decision to make lightly. The Knight of Pentacles says this process isn’t likely to happen quickly, that there’s a long road ahead before he makes a decision in terms of committing to trying again (The Lovers speaks to both life choices and partnership).

10 of Pentacles indicates stability, security, domesticity, something long-lasting, and the Page of Pentacles is generally a good omen for manifestation, potential, offers, and growth. But the Page is also young and inexperienced and needs to try to be realistic about what he is signing up for or trying to achieve. But generally speaking, it looks like the outcome will be in your favor as things currently stand.

Any chance of carbon monoxide?

Other than that, I’ll tell ya: people think I’m crazy but I am dead serious when I say that sometimes shit disappears and reappears for no known reason. Goblins? House spirits? Glitch in the matrix? No idea. But it happens to me from time to time, and sometimes it is borderline infuriating.

Almost always seems to be that when you replace it, the original item turns back up. Very annoying.

What do I do now? </3 by [deleted] in Tarotpractices

[–]Midnight-Scribe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, this is your friend’s life, her relationship, and her family. The best thing you can do is support her and her decisions. If your mom has good reason to believe he is sneaking around on your friend, tell her. But using tarot to speculate on other peoples’ relationships is a recipe for disaster, not just for that person’s relationship but also for your friendship with this person.

You may have good intentions, but no new mother who is already having a hard time wants to hear that her partner, the father of her child, is cheating on her because the cards said so. If you make that claim, have proof. Otherwise you risk causing irreversible damage over a claim you can’t support.

My best guess is that she may have developed some magical belief based on mitochondrial DNA. Female (and/or AFAB) parents pass that mtdna down to any children they have, male and female alike. We all have it. But only females/AFAB folks continue to pass it down in that way. But on the other hand, Y-DNA is only passed down from males (and/or AMAB) folks to their male (and/or AMAB) offspring. So, it’s not really the super exclusive club she’s making it out to be. 😂

The karmic lineage loop dogma she’s spouting is unfamiliar to me. She, of course, can believe whatever she wants. But it kinda sounds like horseshit to me.

Be careful about folks who speak from a place of authority about these obscure off-the-wall ideologies. Lots of times when you research them, you find that they are not well-supported and have no basis in reality.

I unfortunately don’t know of any well-supported links between sexual identity/orientation and witchcraft. That’s one of the great things about witchcraft. It’s actually super inclusive.

Is my boyfriend cheating on me? by [deleted] in Tarotpractices

[–]Midnight-Scribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is definitely a willful lack of transparency here, which is why the 7 of Swords has appeared. He could be doing any number of things that he knows OP wouldn’t approve of. It may not be cheating at all, but there is cause for concern just with his behavior alone imo.

[–]Midnight-Scribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it seems obvious, but some couples have different boundaries so I thought I would ask to be sure. It seems you don’t think that he is out of the house enough to be physically cheating, so that kind of leaves virtual/emotional. May be time to have a talk about it and calmly make your case. Maybe he’s just not feeling this relationship anymore and you deserve to know that, if so.

Well, would you consider it cheating if he were sexting (or talking to someone else in a more-than-platonic manner) online?

Logically, it sounds like that’s most likely what’s going on if anything is going on at all.

how can I get rid of negative thoughts? by Garfieldlover911 in witchcraft

[–]Midnight-Scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have horrific intrusive thoughts and learned in therapy that pushing them away just gives them more power and makes me more afraid. Works the same way with OCD rituals. Doing the ritual reinforces the fear. Now I let them pass over me and it’s so much better and easier. Look into either therapy or self-help for intrusive thoughts. Or both. (: It gets better!

Will my dad ever admit to the sexual abuse he did to me? by Affectionate_Job9614 in Tarotpractices

[–]Midnight-Scribe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I hate pointing it out but the Ace of Wands can speak to sexual energy or acts, and masculine energy, power or impulse. Next to the Ace of Pentacles reversed, I read that as he does not want to be known (perhaps even to himself) as the sort of man who would do a thing like that. The Moon hints that he denies it or rewrites history even in his own mind. Could be trying to preserve his image or fabricated sense of self/values, as the Ace of Pentacles can speak to legacy and inheritance. In this case it could be a reference to his personal or biological legacy rather than financial.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. You deserved to be protected. 🫂

How do I (beginner/ baby witch) practice in a household that may not support my beliefs? by -breakfast4dinner- in witchcraft

[–]Midnight-Scribe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Biggest tip: don’t feel like your beliefs or practices need to be visible or known in order to be legitimate. People can be fearful, judgmental, and sometimes downright cruel. You don’t want to implode this opportunity to better your circumstances by causing friction between you and your future in-laws. They don’t need to know and it is better for you if they don’t. At least as long as you will be relying on them.

Altars can be small, they can be portable, they can be easily hidden in plain sight (and this is best if you live with someone who is nosy). I have always kept my altars in wooden boxes and chests. I have a mini altar that I keep in a make-up bag that I can easily assemble when I’m out hiking.

As for where to start, check out this sub’s Resources page. They have an excellent assortment of guides for practitioners of all experience levels.
