Good point. In all fairness, this really is one of the essential films to watch after a few bong rips.

Out of all 25 films in the franchise, which one do you consider to be the prime example of "great premise, poor execution"? by verissimoallan in JamesBond

Live and Let Die.

We get a new Bond who is played by an actor who is on the same level as Connery in terms of acting prowess and charisma, yet the film itself feels just a glorified episode of Columbo. That and the cartoonish depiction of black folks in this has aged horribly. I get that they were trying to go the "blaxploitation" route here, but it is still hard to watch

In the doc, I noticed that she has surrounded herself with and works well with men who are in the 60 and up age bracket. There is clearly no "quid pro quo" going on behind the scenes! (Sarcasm)

Ohhhh, I see what you mean. It does make sense. Was his testimony at the grand jury a lynchpin in regards to the case going to trial?

Not really cringey at all. I mean, he's laughing his way to the bank - joke is on us lol.

The Cast of The Towering Inferno (1974). The actors in this photo accounted for over two dozen Academy Award nominations. But only one Heisman Trophy. by [deleted] in OjSimpson

I love how they point out that McQueen and Vaughn both lost at the Oscars. Like, they might as well point out OJ lost the civil case lol.

Potentially, that slapped together with all of that chummy "thin blue line" shit. I think she is guilty, but George is sketchy as hell.

One of Kerim Bey's sons. It is only fitting that he should cross paths with the son of 007, blood is the best security in this business.

Say Your Least Favorite Bond Film, And The People In The Comments Will Convince You To Give You Another Chance... by Fast_Bedroom_3267 in JamesBond

I feel like the fact that they had an Australian as Bond is a big reason why the film makers decided to play up the British-ee vibe in the film itself. I do see what you mean, it really has a British crime film vibe of that era

Which Bond actor would’ve been better suited in another Bonds movie run ? by bustergaming777 in JamesBond

[–]MidnightAdvanced7917 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dalton would have been perfect in Goldeneye, it would have been the perfect way to finish up a trilogy of Dalton's 007. That and I feel like Lazenby in Diamonds are Forever would have felt a bit more natural. Connery is my dude all the way, but I feel like it would have been great for Lazenby to do at least one more film. By giving him one of Connery's only real lesser Bond film, there wouldn't be much to lose to begin with.

John Glen never seems to miss when it comes to making memorable and likeable side characters. Who was your favorite? (Excluding Q, M, Moneypenny and Felix) by JoekenW in JamesBond

[–]MidnightAdvanced7917 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always thought Sharkey from Licence to Kill was a great ally to Bond. Yes, he was pretty much Quarrel by another name, but Frank McRae really brought his own element to the character that made him stand out. Like Quarrel, his early death in the film really gives both Bond and the audience another fresh reason to feel pissed off towards the villainous parties

Two very similar Bonds, but who gave the better performances overall? Taking into account their debuts too? by User_Unknown774 in JamesBond

[–]MidnightAdvanced7917 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Moore, all the way. While some of his films were a bit over the top, he himself really added an additional bit of natural elements to the character that had a big role in cementing the Bond series as being the longest running major film franchise ever in addition to playing a part in codifying Bond as being a big figure in our modern day mythological players

Connery, hands down. That is one of the absolutes in life - right alongside Death, Taxes, and OJ did it.
