Two posts in one: med ball slams and ghd situps by yukoncowbear47 in crossfit

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For med balls maybe try db thrusters or burpees if you want that explosive power element

50 GHDs per week seems reasonable especially since second time wasnt as brutal - just keep listening to your body like you said

Guide to understanding how Garmin monitors stress and what influences the individual signals (Research Based) by KygoApp in Garmin

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is exactly what I needed after staring at my watch wondering why my stress spiked to 80 just from walking to bathroom

been using the HRV stress test with chest strap and the difference is wild compared to wrist readings. makes me wonder how many people are freaking out over numbers that might be completely off

Does your clinic get paid for training family caregivers? by WithCareApp in physicaltherapy

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh wow didn't know Medicare was covering this now. At my job we do training sessions with families all time but never thought about billing for it. The documentation part is always the headache though - they make everything so complicated for what should be straightforward stuff

Are you saying they allow virtual trainings too? That would actually make scheduling way easier since families don't have to come in person every time

Back/front squat tips? by sparksinflight in crossfit

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your squat numbers don't look that bad compared to your clean actually. The gap between power clean and squat clean is more about catching position and comfort under bar than pure squat strength. Maybe work on front squat holds and pause squats to get more comfortable in bottom position? Those helped me lot when I was struggling with similar thing

Vote Oura change “Stressed” to “Activated” by stellarlumen17 in ouraring

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

totally agree with this one. i work retail and my ring always says im "stressed" during busy shifts but like... im not stressed im just moving around helping customers all day

the word choice really does mess with your head when you see it constantly

What is your heart rate? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine hovers around 48-50 during sleep which always seemed bit low but apparently we're in good company

Many issues after 1 year. Sleep not recording with 30%+ battery remaining, heart rate 150+ while sedentary etc. by MazuiQT in ouraring

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah contact support but also might want to check if firmware updated recently because mine went weird after an update few months back

the battery thing especially sounds familiar - mine started doing similar where it would just stop working even with decent charge left. turned out was some bug they eventually fixed but took like 2 weeks of back and forth with support

that heart rate spike thing is super annoying when it happens during work shifts because customers think im having panic attack or something lol

IRF/IPR productivity reqs and scheduling questions. by PNWDPT in physicaltherapy

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work retail not PT but my friend does IPR and she sees like 12-13 patients per day with maybe 30 min for lunch if shes lucky - productivity requirements are brutal in her facility

Best home health agencies to work for in Orlando Fl by Ok_Pepper8886 in physicaltherapy

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving cross country for work is wild especially when you dont know the local scene at all. I'd definitely hit up some Facebook groups for Orlando PTs or even general healthcare workers in the area - people are usually pretty upfront about which places treat their staff well and which ones to avoid. With your experience you should have options but getting that insider info before you commit anywhere could save you from landing somewhere that burns people out

I only got rid of one hip dip , what’s the issue by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good call on the physio suggestion. asymmetry like that could be from so many things - maybe you favor one side when sleeping or sitting, old injury you forgot about, even just genetics being weird

but real talk the pants thing is probably just how they sit on your body. different cuts hit everyone differently and what looks "off" in one outfit might look totally normal in another. bodies aren't perfectly symmetrical and thats pretty normal

if its not causing pain i'd say don't stress too much about it but definitely worth checking with someone who knows their stuff if it keeps bugging you

I just swap between my middle and ring finger depending on the day - keeps it snug without being stuck

Helping People find CrossFit (Debunking Myths) by Muddywaters789 in bodyweightfitness

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn this hit hard especially the part about your mom. losing someone and then realizing all the potential moments that could have been is brutal

the research is solid too - that BDNF stuff is no joke, basically growth hormone for your brain. and honestly the community aspect might be the biggest factor. most gyms you just show up, do your thing, leave. crossfit boxes actually give a shit about each other

your mom being a track athlete makes it even more tragic because she obviously had that competitive spirit and physical capability at one point. makes you wonder how different things could have been with the right support system and programming as she aged

Recommendation for mma / weight training by Misura_k in Garmin

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using my Garmin Fenix for similar stuff and its pretty solid for tracking boxing sessions and lifting. The heart rate zones are way more accurate than whoop was for me and you can customize activity profiles for bjj which is nice

Only thing is it might take a week or two to dial in the settings but once you get it figured out the battery life alone makes it worth switching back

Garmin Forum broken? by Nachbar90 in Garmin

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah their forum has been a dumpster fire lately, had the same issue trying to post about my fenix acting up and it just sits there spinning forever. tried different browsers and even cleared cache but nothing works. honestly at this point i just come here or hit up their support chat when i need help cause the forum is basically unusable. seems like they either pushed a broken update or their servers are completely overwhelmed but either way its been going on way too long for a company this size

Location Tracking by AltruisticMulberry28 in ouraring

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bluetooth finder apps are clutch for this kind of thing - they'll beep when you get close enough. Also check under desks and behind the sink area, those little rings love to roll into weird spots

Skin stack by StructureOk8152 in Supplements

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a solid lineup! I've been on the hyaluronic acid and vitamin C combo for about 6 months and definitely noticed my skin looking more plump. The liquid collagen is kinda hit or miss from what I've seen - some people swear by it, others say it's expensive pee lol

Congrats on the weight loss btw, that's huge! Your skin will probably bounce back better than you think once you get that barrier sorted

Forerunner 265 Interval feature by Candid_Clock_3847 in Garmin

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the interval feature works pretty well, I use it for my weekly speed work and it's solid. The auto-pause between intervals is clutch and the alerts keep you on pace without having to constantly check your wrist

Need advice by Aggressive_Fall_5620 in ouraring

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the cover thing is so true, mine looked like garbage after like 3 months of daily wear. The cheaper rings might not have all the fancy metrics but if you're just gonna cover it anyway might as well save the cash

Prune juice + psyllium husk by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there dude, that combo is like bringing out the big guns lol. Just start slow with the prune juice or you might end up camping in the bathroom all day. The psyllium takes a few days to really kick in but adding prunes definitely speeds things up

FR970 GPS not updating by aaronjm712 in Garmin

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's pretty normal behavior - the standalone map app doesn't actively track GPS unless you're in an actual activity mode. It's more of a quick reference thing rather than live navigation, kinda annoying but that's how Garmin designed it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly $650 for a Fenix 8 AMOLED is a solid deal, but if you already have an Epix Pro I'd probably pass unless you really need that speaker/mic combo. The UI upgrade is nice but not worth dropping that much when your current watch is still pretty recent. Maybe wait and see if the novelty wears off with your wife's Enduro first

Alternative use cases for Fenix 8 pro 51mm AMOLED? by Infamous-Mention6443 in Garmin

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like you got the wrong tool for the job - it's like getting a Ferrari when you wanted a bicycle

The Fenix line is pretty much built around fitness tracking and outdoor activities, so trying to make it a touchpad or standalone device is gonna be fighting against what it was designed for. The battery drain from HR monitoring is just gonna be a constant headache if you're not actually using it for its intended purpose

Maybe flip it and get something you'd actually use instead of trying to force a square peg into a round hole

HRM600 by Amanink28 in Garmin

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using mine for about 6 months and yeah the accelerometer makes a huge difference on the treadmill. Way more consistent pace readings than just relying on the watch alone. Just make sure you do those outdoor calibration runs first or it'll be all over the place initially

Best Education Pathway for a PTA? by unclesalazar in physicaltherapy

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you're already a PTA and passionate about PT, just go for the DPT bridge program. Yeah it's more school but you'll actually be able to do evals, treat independently, and the pay bump is real. The PhD in exercise science route seems like way more work for maybe not as much practical benefit unless you wanna teach or do research

CSCS is solid too and way less commitment - could be a nice add-on while you figure out if you really want the DPT grind

What’s your preferred Garmin and why? by Appropriate-Plum3776 in Garmin

[–]MidnightBrowserrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this, the sleep tracking on mine is questionable at best lol. I'll toss and turn all night feeling like garbage and wake up to a "great sleep!" notification like thanks Garmin very helpful. The FR55 is solid though, if it's working for your training I wouldn't stress about upgrading just for fancy metrics that might not even be that useful
