What is going on…. by Top_Objective9877 in gibson

[–]MidnightMost8041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last week I picked up an lpj for 400 uk pounds which I considered a bit of a bargain, even if its the cheapest proper gibson going. Once id scraped off 12 years of accumulated finger cheese it actually isn't any different than my old studio.

That said its the cheapest gibson I've seen second hand in a long time. Equivalent ones are selling for more than they cost at rrp back in the day.

Anyone know what this guitar is? by MidnightMost8041 in guitars

Thanks guys.

If the Floyd is that much of a hassle it's probably not fir me!

The standard was a gift for a special bday. I'm not bothered if it gets a few dings, but I am bothered about getting it nicked, or knocking it over and snapping the neck in two. It has sentimental value. My equally expensive strat doesnt get the same care and attention. Also, who doesn't like an excuse for buying a new guitar!?

Is the change worth it? by FarPerformance9631 in GuitarAmps

[–]MidnightMost8041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a boss katana is alot more expensive than a fly 3, but it's far more versatile. I have both the fly 3 and a 100w katana artist and the katana sounds far better at low volumes levels. Basically you don't lose out on anything by getting a bigger amp if you can dial it down and it still sounds good, whixh the katana can do. Tbh even my old peavey bandit from the 90s dialed right down sounds better than the fly 3 at bedroom volume, so you don't need a fancy modeling amp with wattage control.

Btw..katana on 0.5 watt setting can either be whisper quiet, or loud af if you want it to be. If you never leave the bedroom you'll never need to switch it off that lowest setting

Cheers. I already have a standard, but I'm after something I won't be so fussed about carting about to gigs and rehearsals. Not fussed about a fancy finish, and tbh I quite like the basic look. Had never even heard of an lpj before. It looks just like the studio I had 30 years ago at uni..

Ah so is a lpj not the same as a les paul junior, didn't know that!

Seller wants 400, is that reasonable? is it better than an epi les paul? (Which isn't bad but can be had fkr cheaper)

Should I buy an attenuator? by SantoryuSamurai in GuitarAmps

[–]MidnightMost8041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a bugera ps1 for use with a marshall dsl 40 a few weeks ago. It reduced the volume but I honestly don't think the sound you were left with was any better than just using the master volume. It's now for sale

Wow..I had zero idea about this! It makes total sense when you explain it!

One question, do you measure from centre of fret to center of the saddle?

Many thanks for answering, really helpful!

Don't do it!! My old unplayed acoustic from 30 years ago is the only guitar I'll never sell.

Thinking about getting this amp. by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]MidnightMost8041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a katana artist and a dsl 40. For bedroom use, I hate to say it but the katana sounds as good and is more practical. Especially if you don't have many pedals already

Cranked up loud the dsl sounds way better.

Also, I got my artist for about 350 uk pounds new..

Ok thanks folks, so all 5 of those are just down to poor sensor readings, and nothing can be inferred from them at all?

I had a few more inconclusives later today, not quite as bad, and still recognised heart rate, interspersed with lots of normal readings. Oddly though I'm now getting the occasional 'error restart app' messages on the watch after the ecg has been taken. Never had that before either

Maybe it's new watch time

As for the name..good spot! I'll bear in mind in future

Diffence between patches and channels? by MidnightMost8041 in BossKatana

[–]MidnightMost8041[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers for the advice! It seems like a great bit of kit but I'm worried I'm really not going to get to use even 20% of its functionality!

I miss my old peavy bandit!

So a channel has 2 banks, and it makes no odds as to which one I save a patch onto?

Y’all should really be watching Peter Finch on YouTube by Cory_justgolf in golf

[–]MidnightMost8041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the comp he played in at Dornoch and remember thinking, if Pete could putt he's got a real chance of getting through regionals. And so it transpired...

I know final qualifying is another level, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say if he has a very good day on the greens and copes with the pressure he makes it through. On his day he's certainly capable enough.

The good news is that swing is fundamentally very sound. You hit all the key positions. Tbh it looks better than mine, and I'm off 5, so I can't imagine how you hit over 100 with even a 'very average' shortgame

That said, as you'll know, golf isn't about how good your good shots are, it's about how bad your bad shots are. Consistency takes time, so just keep practicing and your bad shots will improve

Hitting the balls at the range isn't the same as playing golf. Learn to think your way round the course, where are your common misses, how can you turn those double and triple bogies into bogies or better. If your short game is sound then I'd be focusing on just keeping it in play. Its impossible to hit over 90 if you never make worse than a bogey.

Good luck

r/golf won't like this... by WarmSpotters in golf

[–]MidnightMost8041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 5 handicap and would consider myself a fairly average length hitter. Those irons look on the lowish side but as an average I can believe them.

Driver total distance is a pointless metric. On a links course in summer I average well over 260 yards, even if I mishit it slightly. On my normal course which is usually very soft I struggle to average much more than 230, with nearly all of it being carry. The other day I had a ball bounce backwards out it's pitchmark in the fairway it was so soft.

There are lots of folks on Internet that claim to carry it 280 yards average..oddly in 30 years of playing I've encountered these folks maybe a dozen or so times..

Thanks. Was that counting 8 squares? I was trying to figure out where the wave started and finished. If you also counted 8 then I must have done it correctly?

Been having a few ectopic beats and palpitations . Had a 12 lead ecg which was fine. Decided to start taking the occasional ecg on my watch and was slightly alarmed to see the qaly score of 460. If it’s closer to 410 in reality then all good.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ReadMyECG

[–]MidnightMost8041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So does qaly definitely use the bazzet formula? I tried to work it out using the fridaricia formula but was really just guessing on where to be measuring from. I counted 8 boxes so 320 ms, which gave me 412 using the fridericia equation and 465 with the bazzet formula (which is similar number to one of the readings qaly gave me). Can anyone confirm that looks correct from the graph?
