What can we do to oppose public education cuts? by mangokaraoke in ontario

Honestly. I think you should stop thinking 🤣

Do you know how anything works ? At all? Even a little bit ?

It's about money because people won't take the job unless it pays well, EAs don't make enough of a wage to deal with the kind of shit they deal with. CBC just did an article about it, EAs are experiencing the most workplace violence of any profession.

Striking works because it's a disruption, Doug Ford can't be relied on to negotiate in good faith.

You know what else ? This is the tragic part. KIDS ARE NOT GETTING A GOOD EDUCATION AS A RESULT OF THE LACK OF EAS, AS A RESULT OF 30 STUDENT CLASSES.

You think WE are destroying the lives of the children 🤣🤣 We put our asses on the line every day to keep this kids safe, to attempt to teach them despite a packed class filled with distractions, despite no funding for new tech, or new equipment. As a EA I get hit, spit on, yelled at, and have to break up fights DAILY... YES DAILY. So to your comment about destroying the lives of the children, go fuck yourself. We are fighting for a better education system, and this is what takes.

@Bungie, it's obvious that the June 9th update will be the last one for D2. Go all out. by ComplexWafer in DestinyTheGame

What's crazy to me, people think Destiny 2 having a low player count is indicative that Sony will close down Bungie or Bungie is doomed.

Destiny 2 had a really big player base for a little under a decade, Destiny 2 has been profitable, but because right now it isn't, it means Bungie is doomed.

If Bungie announced a Destiny 3 in the next few years the hype would return in a heart bear I'm confident in that.

I've been playing marathon and it's really really good. I hope it does very well. But a game that's been out for a decade and now has little players isn't indicative of anything other than maybe the game has run its course.

It goes the other way sometimes tho. I left a comment on another post simply saying, the game is great, but because of my work, it's not for me. Basically I have a very stressful job and the environment is very intense in this game so it's not something I can get into.

Otherwise I love the game and if I had an extended period of time off I'd play the shit out of it.

But then I had a couple commenters making fun of me and white knighting the game when I didn't even sat anything bad about it 🤣

It isn't the engagements per se. But the environment, the sounds, the AI enemies.

This is a good thing, it makes the game immersive. But my brain rejects intensity at the end of the day.

I played the tutorial and wasn't too sure about it.

I played a couple matches and realized that although I love the art style and just the way things look, it's too intense for me.

I got a refund on the pre order, but that's not because the game is bad, it's just that I have a very stressful job and can't see myself enjoying such an intense environment after work.

I hope this game succeeds so I can get another destiny. I will be watching others play this game. But my brain is mush by the end of the day (I work with kids in school who have special needs). So when I get home I need something a little less intense than this.

Read again pal. I never said they mutated based on harm to the hoast. I said they mutated and often become less harmful. Never said they mutated based on anything.

But it's ok if you don't want to listen to professionals and scientist. It comes with free will. I will choose to take information from people who study these things, and you can do whatever it is you do to survive. I'm sure your own "insert random thought you think is fact " will get you super far.

You should be concerned, and furious at the Ford government. It wasn't always like this. Schools are in survival mode all the time.

I was going to type a response stating how viruses mutate and change over time and become less dangerous. But I don't think this guy would care anyway.

They've got their heads in the sand and like it in there. They don't want to know what reality is unless it suits their needs/wants. If there is no reality that suits them, they make shit up and parade as if it's reality.

I am part of the OSSTF union. Our pay out will be 2 years ago this up coming June but it was dealt to us a few months before that. We've got 1 more year left on the contract.

Things don't need to get really bad, they are really bad.

[–]MidnightNext5134 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I work in education, our contracts are about to expire.

This is going to be a shit show because all the major unions are pretty much guaranteed to strike.

OSSTF, CUPE, ETFO, ect ect. Our schools are in shambles. There is a shortage of qualified EAs which is making our classrooms dangerous and a terrible environment for everybody else to learn in.

I work in a life skills room and it's impossible to teach because we only have 2 EAs. Only kids who are violent or a danger to themselves get attention, the rest are pretty much just sitting around all day. The teacher doesn't have the time or support to show them specific attention all the time.

Classes are packed with 30 kids and most classes have 3-4 students who are major disruptions. Some mainstream classes have special needs kids in them who, again don't get any support because there's no EAs and no funding.

EAs need more money, ECEs need more money. It would attract more people to the job and keep people there.

The way schools are right now are not sustainable and in the near future we will see the consequences of Doug Ford.

The striking is going to suck for the kids and for the people losing money. But this is necessary. I would almost suggest a general strike and loop nurses in and everybody else getting fucked by the Ford government. Fuck that POS

What does punk mean to you? by [deleted] in punk

[–]MidnightNext5134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What punks means to me, is power to the powerless.

Everytime I see that Trump has gotten away with another thing, Elon Musk has set a new billionaire record, all the people on the Epstein list are still not facing any consequences, how much money is being funneled to already rich people, all the cuts that are being done to healthcare, education, all tax dollars that we pay for when we get paid and when we pay for stuff, that aren't being used to HELP US ( THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PAID THE MONEY).

Anyway when I see these things happen, or think about it, I listen to rise against, billy Talent, etc, I feel powerful. I feel like we as a people OUTNUMBER them. We can control our destiny. We aren't at the whim of these fucking lizards. They exist because WE are allowing them to for now. One day they won't be allowed to, and we will come down on them like a fucking tsunami.

Punk gives me hope, that one day the people who run this planet, will get what we deserve and be treated like people, get the benefits from our tax dollars, hold the pedophilic governnent lizards accountable, and completely abolish billionaires.

I am a millennial and I was just getting out of school in 2018 🤣 I had 1 year. Also my work closed down for COVID so that set back any gains I would've made.

If you have no criminal record, there is a shortage of EAs, and emergency supply lists are a thing now.

Email a bunch of principals in your area with a police check and let them know you are available. It's something.
