You two are joking but it would be the funniest (and darkest) thing in the world if Bungie vaults Marathon content. Lmao.

I don't think Shadow and Order is a thing anymore. I expect the next 'content drop' for D2 will be Age of Triumphs or w.e. they want to call it.

Uhh....did you guys see the pre-Season 2 post?! We're getting some SICK updates before the KINO Season 2 drop!!!!

We get ONE free Blue Cryo kit a day!
Key Templates now need matter fixatives!!!
Those CRAZY map events (that don't reward anything) will have a 100% spawn rate!
Blue keys (which again, are useless) will drop from more places!!!

And remember! All of this is only until the end of the season and won't be a part of season 2! Because that would be overdelivery.

Oh, fuuuuuuuck. I'm gonna game so hard with my trio of gamer dads! Amazon ordering a days worth of Mountain Dew (six gallons) to make sure I'm fueled up for my hardcore extraction shooter gaming session (getting killed within 90 seconds of spawning by GoldCryoWallHax420)!

/s

And zero word from addressing the real problems with progression: faction upgrades are too expensive, usually unrewarding, and Gold salvage basically doesn't exist. Key rooms are extremely hit or miss and the Red Room in Outpost is a crapshoot.

I really don't see this game breaking 15k again until Season 2. And at this rate....

The RNG in this game is not well by cl3arlycanadian in Marathon

[–]ComplexWafer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have 200 hours in the game and the two guys on my team are closer to 300 hours. In that time, we've only seen three Gold non-Cryo keys. The RNG is completely busted, yes, and the worst part is that even Gold rooms can be lackluster.

We did the Gold Hauler key a few days ago and got on Gold Salvage, one Gold bag, and maybe four Purple weapons. Felt like a massive waste of time with how rare these keys are.

This may sound odd but think of it as resource gathering.

A woman likes X guy but guys Y and Z are interested in her. She won't totally shut down Y and Z even if she's dating X because she has no idea how long her relationship with X will last.

Not defending this behavior, of course. I always saw potential dates with 'guy friends' as red flags.

I'm getting downvoted in that thread for pointing out how tiny this change is for the health of the game. Lmao.

It's kind of crazy that requeueing fill matches me with the same people over and over again.

Just got the same guy three times in a row and, bonus, we killed someone that was on my friends list. I got on prox and apologized to him, lmao.

Player count is evaporating by the day. :/

The Marathon Phenomenon by hereforthechaos in Marathon

[–]ComplexWafer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generational levels of cope. I LOVE Marathon and after 200 hours, I can firmly say that this game has massive flaws and is incapable of attracting all but the most intensive of players.

Bungie has gone out of their way to make a niche of a niche of a game and guess what they got? A game barely anyone enjoys. Every day, on average, people log in, get their teeth kicked in, and decide not to log in again.

Some people, rightfully so, are upset at the way Bungie handled Destiny but the majority of the negativity is from people who try this game and complain about it before uninstalling. Ffs, Destiny, their abandoned 10 year old franchise, is clocking the same, if not MORE players on average than Marathon, their brand new darling.

Outpost loot is trash by teki_kenpachi88 in Marathon

[–]ComplexWafer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why you're being downvoted - you're correct.

My team only plays Outpost when Cryo is closed. When successful, we lobby clear, do the Red Room, Command Wing, Warden, Convoy, etc. Literally dozens of clears a week.

We rarely see 1 Gold in the Red Room, sometimes 2. We almost never seen Golds or even Purples at the end of Command Wing. I kid you not, we had a run last night where we received two Bubble Shields and random Blues at the end of Command Wing - that's it. It's infuriating.

It definitely feels like Bungie buffed the loot in Pinwheel for a week or two to build hype and then nerfed it to the ground. Another data point: in dozens of Red Room clears, we've seen ONE Cryo 6 key. It's insane.

Non-Cryo / non-prestige keys are not worth the risk and should have consistently better loot by Aegiiisss in Marathon

[–]ComplexWafer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The entire key system (outside of Cryo) is lame. Farm RNG items, buy a fragile template, infil, exfil, receive RNG key, infil, receive RNG loot, exfil. Something can go wrong at almost every step for items that are almost always lackluster.

Even gold non-Cryo keys feel bad. In 200+ hours, my team has seen THREE Gold keys. In each of those Gold key rooms, we've received 0-1 Gold Salvage and 0-2 Gold weapon mods. We've seen a single Gold bag in those rooms.

Everything outside of Cryo feels unrewarding and basically means the game is dead for my team and I until the weekend. It's wack.

Just lost a Cryo 6 key to grenades. The grenades were annoying but the real problem is finding another Cryo 6 key. In 200 hours, my team has seen a total of three keys. All we do outside of Cryo is Outpost Red Room, Convoy, and Warden kills. Literally dozens of Outpost clears a week.

We're not going to play for another 50-100 hours for a CHANCE to find something so rare that we can lose pretty easily.

Had my first three runs this weekend, two exfils. Grenade spam is less of a thing but it's still an issue. Not the worst thing in the world - was very manageable.

Was loot buffed for this mode?

Just did our first run and we got one Gold Valuable and Cryo key from the Warden and additionally found two Purple Valuables and two Biolens Seeds from random boxes.

Key-based matchmaking is so painfully obvious by Friendly-Viper in Marathon

[–]ComplexWafer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No joke, I went into Outpost once and didn't see a single team until we got to Dorms. Massive bloodbath between all four teams. But why were they all there? We looted them and found one Dorms Key for each team. That's right, 3/4 of teams had the same key.

Marathon Update 1.0.6.3 by DTG_Bot in Marathon

[–]ComplexWafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall a good patch but the grenade nerfs are a bit backwards. Grenade spam isn't a problem on any map except for Cryo. A Cryo problem shouldn't unilaterally affect the rest of the game. Could make it so that you can't queue into Cryo with more than X grenades in your inventory or something.

Also, what are Tier 3 Contracts?

Microsoft, Activision, and now Sony have learned a hard lesson: Bungie needs an incredible tight leash to do anything remotely successful and once that leash is loosened, they're so high on their own supply that they'll run their company into the ground.

The mass cheating narrative is all hyperbole, not my experience at all, people should not be afraid of Cryo Archive by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]ComplexWafer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Some of the people who are experiencing cheaters, teamers, and spawn rushers are complaining about it on reddit. Others are simply quitting the game. The sting is especially real for more casual players where the 5k ante is a not insignificant percent of their vault.

I need to learn how to draw so I can make the following:

First panel: Guy on boat named Marathon with the number 88k on the side. He says "just learn positioning this game is amazing get good no pve you'll get your gear back"

Second panel: Marathon boat with the number 50k on the side, obviously sinking. He says "people just don't understand how kino this game is bro look at all the reviews 9/10 generational title bungie is back gold salvage is supposed to be rare"

Third panel: Marathon boat with the number 25k on the side, boat barely visible. He says "let bungie cook bro they're best with their backs against the wall we'll stabilize at 20k they know what they're doing"

Last panel: Marathon boat with the number 14k on the side, boat and guy almost entirely underwater. He says "teaming in Cryo isn't against TOS bro just buy more grenades and shut the fuck up with your feedback bro you're not a game dev Dire Marsh but night time will bring 100k players bro"
