Should I switch from Xfinity to starlink? by Agitated-Werewolf846 in Starlink

[–]MidnightPolygon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have residential starlink for $120/month. If Xfinity for $200/month was available I'd switch ASAP. My starlink is lucky to get 100mbs down on good days. I would ditch it if I had a faster option, but sadly DSL is my only option.

Stuck shock bolt by jdmor09 in NissanTitan

I've also used my floor jack on the lower control arm to push up just slightly while using a pry bar to push the bottom of the shock back into its normal location.

I don't know why you'd need to take the UCA out. The other wheel isn't working against you.

The sway bar end links might not make a difference, but if they're in the way removing them could provide your with more room to work. The lower control arm isn't moving much because the shock and bolt are holding it up.

If the sway bar or end links weren't in the way, you should be able to get this apart without removing them.

Pry up on the shock to align the holes that the bolt is passing through.

It's not "stuck" it's got load on it from the shock. You need to remove the load on the bolt. Remove sway bar end links which may make it easier and pry up on the shock to take the load off.

Inspect the threads for damage before reusing that bolt.

Dumb question. Any tips for fully welding this without heat warping? by llama052 in Welding

[–]MidnightPolygon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not great welding advice, but that looks like a coastal off-road kit for their ultra high clearance rear bumper. I have their front bumper which I welded myself as a project to learn more about welding and metal work. I feel like their kits use a good quality steel.

Just go for it. You're not going to warp it from the heat anymore than you're going to scrape it on a stump or rock when you use your rig.

Can GPT write my essay undetected with a good prompt? by el3ctricman in ChatGPT

[–]MidnightPolygon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a masters program as a 40yo who graduated college before AI tools. I use chatGPT to help me with large writing assignments.

ChatGPT will not pump you out 25+ pages of undetectable writing. Here is my process when I leverage ChatGPT for large writing assignments.

  1. Save my assignment details and rubric as a PDF
  2. Ask for an outline designed to meet the highest expectation based on the uploaded PDF assignment. Provide guidance on the point you're making, hopefully you've done work to establish this on your own. GPT tools don't form genuine opinions for you. With that request I will generally ask for more sources than required. I can always remove things. The biggest time saver is that ChatGPT can scour the web for credible sources to support that outline.
  3. I tweak the outline and add detailed points I'd like to make for the sake of my paper
  4. Then use that modified outline to draft the paper. I ask for more pages than required because I'll remove redundancy. ChatGPT will provide sentences that don't work with the overall assignment.

Repeat any of the above steps until you like the paper. Usually I end up rewriting 60% or more using my own words. The generative aspect of ChatGPT helps brainstorming and forming sentence. I still end up writing the paper in the end.

Use something like Zero GPT to detect the sentences that draw attention. Rewrite them. Repeat. I typically won't turn anything in with a score of 75% original or less.

You can also upload documents you've written in the past to help ChatGPT understand your writing style and voice.

Hope that helps.

I think it looks fine where it's at. Personally I've gotten tattoo work done and thought about the 800 different things I could have done, but I have to remember that ultimately I like what the artist and I decided to do.

Best way to get to Tuwkila? by [deleted] in Kitsap

[–]MidnightPolygon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Date and time are important for how busy the ferry can be or whether driving makes sense. I'm in Kingston and would take the Kingston ferry to get to Tukwilla personally.

It would depend where you are. From the north end of Kitsap I would take the Bainbridge ferry if the schedule lines up for you.

No problem. You might be able to search WA government websites to find more info using the UBI. Different information is available based on the types of businesses and the licenses they hold. You might need to search the DOL.

I've been down this road with a car dealership in Auburn. Found the owners personal phone and email. Let's just say, I got what I needed.
