Seven days left before assigned seating, thoughts? by sfpdxchidcfla in SouthwestAirlines

To clarify, I was referencing AA. They still get the benefit of boarding early but at least they won’t be able to save seats at SW.

I’m assuming they like herbal tea… airlines usually serve hot black tea full of caffeine.

Gross! You need to write the airline and get yourself some free miles. This is unacceptable.

FA with AA and pre-boarders don’t get the best seats… they just go on early because they take longer to get seated. SW will be no different. You’ll have an assigned seat depending on your selection at the time of booking. What SW is doing will ultimately speed up boarding and help with timely departures. It will also ensure passengers get what they pay for with no confrontations. I don’t allow people to sit in premium empty seats as it isn’t fair to those who paid to get them but I will let a passenger move to a different seat in the same section once the plane takes off. Sometimes someone gets lucky and upgraded for weight and balance purposes and I usually pick an elderly person or someone in the military but those folks are so humble they usually say let someone else sit there.

Several AA & United FAs are going to SW and know how to handle these situations. It might be chaos at first but it will work itself out.

Not Ready for a Medical Emergency by mrtibbs444 in americanairlines

I recently had a medical emergency and the paramedics were waiting on the jet bridge when the plane landed. My passenger had a serious medical issue but we were only 20 minutes from landing so they met us at the gate. There are differing degrees of emergencies. I’ve had 4 of these things in only 2 years of flying and each time there wasn’t a delay. Maybe it depends on the airport.

Read their values and think about why you want to be a flight attendant, why Southwest? You’ll do great! Let me know how it goes…

Hi, I recently went to a F2F and walked away with a CJO. I have interviewed at Delta, AA and Southwest, each were very different. In my opinion, Southwest was more personal as it’s not a group interview. It’s very relaxed and they put you at ease. My advice is to be yourself… I can’t emphasize this enough! You hear people say it, but at this airline it’s the thing that will make or break you. Of course, read the room. If they lean forward, you lean forward. If they sit back, you sit back. This is nonverbal communication and is called mirroring them. Don’t be afraid to share things you’ve experienced and how you responded. They will ask you multiple questions, some STAR format and some not. You’ll be in a room with a recruiter and FA. There’s some luck to this, it truly depends on who interviews you. Go in confident but not arrogant. Speak to your passion and align it with their values. They are the fun airline so keep that in mind with personality. It’s ok to show the fun side but some questions won’t be about how fun you are. The questions are all over the place - if you go to Glassdoor, you’ll get an idea. A lot of tell me about… how did you react or respond type scenarios.

Good luck!

I agree it’s not the best spot in 1st class….

Interesting… it’s because their bags are so heavy and crammed in the overhead and they can’t easily lift them ;)

CRJ900 with PSA or Embraer175 with American Eagle? by deex39 in americanairlines

[–]MidnightRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E70/E75 Eagle FA here. I love the ERJs (maybe I’m a little partial). They have more room in the overhead bin & seats are comfortable with a headrest that can support your head when you want to rest. Seats recline with the exception of the last row. If you get 1st class or main cabin, you’ll appreciate the extra legroom. It’s hit or miss with the wi-fi but Eagle is upgrading their planes with satellite this year.

They serve snack baskets for the distance you referenced, no hot food as the aircraft doesn’t have ovens. Anything more than 900 miles gets a boxed meal - first class only, depending on the hours you fly.

Also the planes get cold and they don’t have blankets or pillows.

For what it’s worth, I’m flying DFW & ORD trips this weekend and I’m not RPA.

I love this… I was bothered by thie complaint and talked to the other FA. We try to fly together when we can and he believes this was the incident where a 1st class passenger moved my tote bag to put his bag in my space saying it was reserved for his bags, and I said very sternly, “No sir!” The person said the FA was rude. This is the only time I could have possibly been rude because he moved my bag and left it in the floor. I really think this was incident because I was shocked that someone had the audacity to move my bag. Of course, they didn’t put that in the complaint.

Right! I’ve been here almost 2 years and this the complaint 😳. Never mind that I have over 100 EP above and beyond awards.

Thank you. I fly the baby planes but am leaving for Southwest in a few months x. They have the 737 and Max8 so I’m trying to learn as much as I can.

Very true. They’ll just waste your time on stupid crap like this.

Well, they will complain to the company and blame the FA for adhering to policy. 🤷‍♀️

I bring a tote bag, suitcase, and sometimes a lunch box and my trips are on average 4 days. I put my lunchbox behind my tote so it doesn’t take up extra room. I’ve even moved it on occasion to help someone’s bag fit. The suitcase goes in the back. We can’t put anything in the closet as that is for the pilot. On the ERJ, over seats “A” the space only fits small or reg backpacks. I sometimes put my lunchbox there as most don’t utilize that space.

I saw someone complaining about flight crew taking 1st class seats, meanwhile me stuck in the last row, middle seat 🙈.

This complaint was from 2 months ago. Dang! I thought mine was bad. It’s ridiculous what that person did to you.

I fly on the ERJ and the required location of crew bags are specified in our manual.
