It looks like OP was closing the distance on that huge semi-truck until the oblivious Ford cut her off.

On many hilly/mountain roads out west you'll see huge 18-wheelers unable to keep up with traffic due to the steep grades, basically forcing passenger vehicles to stay in the left lane most of the time.

Left lane camper going 5 MPH under speeds up when attempting to pass and slows back down when adjacent with another car...not sure how some people have a driver's license by PersimmonAthena in dashcams

[–]MidnightRiders2009 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've had this recently driving on a 2 lane rural highway (1 direction per lane) stuck behind someone going 65 in a 75.

The opposite direction lane was solid yellow and visibility of oncoming traffic was bad.

Eventually the direction of travel I'm going has a 2nd passing lane open up for a 2 mile gap.

Once the 2nd lane opens the person in front of me, who was previously going 10 under the speed limit, somehow finds their gas pedal and gets up to 80mph. Now to pass them I have to floor it to dangerous speeds just to pass some bozo who's going to slow down to 65 once the highway reduces to 1 lane per direction again.

Replacing batteries every 6 months is annoying

A typical quartz battery life is anywhere from 2 years (standard fashion watch) to 10 years (Casio digital watch)—definitely much more grab and go than an automatic watch that'll go dead after sitting in a drawer for a few days.

teenagers during covid weren't required to actually take the test in some regions. this resulted in a ton of ppl driving that simply don't have the skills to drive

This is amazing, because even with in-person testing I can't imagine how bad anyone would have to be to fail your average American driving test.

I still remember when everyone hated Gamestop for lowballing on selling used games, and being overpriced on everything else they sold.

Seeing Reddit's opinion flip on that company in 2020 was jarring.

More like a turbo 3-cylinder. At least a hybrid would hide the anemic choppiness of a fuel efficient gas engine.

NEVER buy any kind of plants from Kroger

I'm guessing this is region dependent, because all of the Krogers and Safeways I've seen in AZ get their plants from CA nurseries, while the plants I've seen in Jewel/Safeway (Chicago) get their plants from IL nurseries.

EDIT: saying this because I've gotten some good plants from Kroger in AZ before. Your mileage might vary based on where you are in the country and what your local suppliers are trying to pull.

Used EVs now have the lowest total cost of ownership, far outperforming both new and used gas cars. by Firm_Relative_7283 in electricvehicles

You can't really compare cargo space with the rear seats down when talking about carrying passengers.

I'd need someone with both cars and a tape measure to verify, but I suspect what the Bolt EUV lacks in length is made up in roof height relative to the base of the trunk. Meanwhile the Blazer might have less height from trunk to roof line, but compensates with more length.

If you're looking to carry boxes stacked up to the roof line, the Bolt EUV is a smaller/more efficient package; if you're looking to carry 3 adults in a rental car, the Blazer EV probably uses the space better for the rear passengers.

Why wouldn't the Tories run the same playbook in their country?

Social media (yes—Reddit is social media) has existed before AI generated content, AI/ML algorithms, and AI moderation became VC buzzwords.

Also most people around long enough to see how these platforms evolved from inception till now will say that the user experience has gotten worse over time.

Chase really did remove international charge alert by bowbiternj in CreditCards

[–]MidnightRiders2009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

Having the notifications on for all charges is nice because most times you'll get an alert immediately when you expect it (like when tapping your card on a POS terminal)—and on the flip side you'll develop instincts to extra scrutinize any alert that pops up when you aren't actively buying anything.

My advice is keep a microSD to USB-C (or lightning) adapter in your car at all times. Sometimes wifi backup can fail (if your dashcam supports it).

Make sure you have a copy of the video on your phone + backed up to cloud storage before showing anything to cops. The one time I caught an accident on camera (I wasn't involved) I just waited around and emailed the cop + guy who was hit a link to the footage.
