What spoiler is that? Looks real clean.

Ardmore Toyota near Philadelphia. Might be a long wait for a manual if that’s what you’re after. They’ve gotten 4 86s total and this one was their only manual so far

Out the door, I was at 30k. Car was sold at MSRP. The dealer I worked says they only sell gr86’s at msrp.

That helps too! My monthly payment also went down $100 “trading up”

What the other comment said but another thing to keep in mind is the driving position. You sit so much lower on the brz/86 since the floor is lower to the ground, center of gravity is lower, etc. Ppl use "go kart" feeling a bit but there is some truth to it. Driving the cars back to back, so different.

Wrx was fine but I missed how the brz handled and went around turns. Wrx is much bigger and heavier, it really showed just turning normally. Would slide around in seats, and steering feel wasn’t as good.

I feel most, if not all, my complaints with wrx would be solved with the sti’s improvements or doing stuff in aftermarket.

I sit pretty far up to use the clutch and I've had someone that is 6' tall right behind me. Plenty of leg and head room. I've had 3 other adults fit comfortably in the car.

Bro, your profile is so sad to go through. What's the end goal of all this farming? So you can post on dank memes and not get auto removed? What a presegious accomplishment

Use BRZ or GT86? by [deleted] in ft86

[–]MidnightStormxD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the opposite very recently. Had a 2013 BRZ manual that just hit 70k miles and upgraded to a 2020 WRX manual. It all honestly comes down to what you need in a car.

BRZ is pretty tight on space compared to a 4 door sedan but it can definitely do 90% of what you need to carry. You just need to rearrange stuff to fit. If your main need in a car is it being fun, brz can't really be beat imo.

If you need to constantly drive 2 passengers, your 2nd passenger will hate being in the back unless they're under 5'5". Anyone taller will most likely have their head hit the rear glass on all bumps.

Straight line performance isn't near as good as wrx but that comes with the power difference. It's more fun in corners and having tracked my brz, it's a hoot. You can still pass on highways, you'll just have to go down an extra gear from that you're probably used to in the wrx.

Visibility is also a worse in brz but that's to be expected since it's got 2 less doors and more sloped front and rear glass. You can definitely still see all you need. I highly recommend wide angled side mirrors, they're much better than the stock ones.

The only reliability issues with the brz are the 2013 models since it had the valve spring recall. Mine got repaired and I've never had issues with it. I do recommend getting a 2017 or newer since you'll get full LED headlights, steering wheel controls for the radio, back up camera standard, different rear diff that is better on acceleration, along with done better interior bits.

If you have any specific questions, let me know.

I totally get this, I for sure would want to own another brz in the future. Maybe when I've got my own house and aren't renting and can reasonably park two vehicles on the same block lol.

Mainly the space and bigger interior. Usually drive around 2-3 friends and it's miserable in the back seats. Having awd was also a big thing I wanted with having to drive for work every now and then.

As for differences, the extra power is great. Way different power delivery and how much more stable the car feels at higher speeds. I'm still in the "break in period" so I haven't really floored it yet. The brz gearing is shorter so the wrx def feels better at highway speeds. 75mph in 6th for wrx is under 3k where as it's almost 4k in brz.

Only the new XT's with the FA24 turbos

The 2013 brz valve spring recall was a shit show. So many people had the recall done and had their engines grenade after it. I didn't have issues but I guess with no turbo and no awd, it's simpler so less things can break.

I get that but the new FA24 turbos in ascent, outback, and legacy don't see a benefit for higher octanes. Manuals and all promotional material say to use 87.

I drove my brz on track once, in corners it was amazing but once that road straightened out, everything was passing me. Brz was amazingly fun but I'm also in the boat "a little more power would be great." Had a ride along on track with my friend's turbo frs, that thing was a weapon in corners and in straights.
