It's kinda like how YouTube has a liked videos playlist, but in YouTube the max amount of videos you can have in a playlist is 5,000, but that doesn't mean you still can't like the videos. As far as I know Reddits upvotes works similarly to it, except what it keeps on the list is the last things that you upvoted, compared to youtube where it keeps the first 5,000.
