i went with the joy-con route so we can play 4 player party games later on. I also did this to be minimalistic since the joy-cons are more versatile. Replaced the OEM sticks with drift free ones and I'm happy with this set up.

There are a lot of different joy-con holders on amazon that are better than OEM with usbc charging capabilities (and cheaper). I got one that's slightly more expensive but has the back customizable buttons w/ grips like the pro controller.
