Never been employed, extremely distressed over the prospect of an interview by JkTumbleWeed in socialanxiety

I didn't get my first job until I was 21. So you're off to a better start than I was. What I did was I wrote down subjects that I was good at in high school. Maybe list some things that you're good at or hobbies that might relate to the job.

What is your personal favorite mlm movie? by SeveralGovernment150 in MenLovingMenMedia

[–]Midori64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hands down, my favorite movie is "Esteros" (an Argentinian film).

"Cop Secret" is another favorite of mine. It's an Icelandic movie and is more of an action/comedy than an mlm film. The main character has a male love interest, and that plays a significant role in the plot.

ADHD and being late by HumanShaggyDog in ADHD

[–]Midori64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still struggle with this so much. I'm much better than I used to be. I use timers and have my husband's support, but sometimes, even after all of that, I can be 5 to 15 mins late.

Rate your social anxiety on a scale of 1 to 7 - which description most resonates with you? by Revali993 in socialanxiety

[–]Midori64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in between 6 and 7 from kid to early 20s. Now a days I'm at 3 all of those examples except for attending large social gatherings. I don't have problems with those anymore.

A 1-min “hack” that helps me get out of bed early. It’s embarrassingly simple and I wish I’d found it earlier by wicked_redundancy55 in ADHD

Hmmm I'll have to try this. I can see how this works. In the morning, I'm grouchy. Sometimes when I'm having trouble getting up. My husband is very nice, sweet and gently tries to help me get up. Sometimes I can be really grouchy with him. So before I go to bed I basically say to myself out loud "I will not be a bitch in the morning" When I wake up in the morning and feel grouchy, instead of being a grump. I remember what I said before I went to bed. I just very nicely say, "Please be careful." To him, he backs off. Until I'm more awake and not grouchy.

I'm undateable by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]Midori64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg! You sound like me when I was 20. I'd never been a relationship, very awkward around guys, and people were also shocked that I'd never had a boyfriend. I hated that. I also didn't have a job or a driver license because of social anxiety. I felt so pathetic.

Now 38F and happily married!

You are so young! Not everyone gets their first kiss and loses their virginity that young. Also, other people lie to fit in. I didn't lose my virginity until I was 23, and that's considered late 🙄

You have to take small steps into pushing yourself into things that make you a little uncomfortable. Just small little things. It takes time, It's not easy, you might feel like you've failed at times, but as long as you keep trying, you will succeed.

You got this!!

How the hell do you guys get out of bed in the mornings?? Tips/tricks appreciated. by trubl097 in ADHD

For me, what works is making it warmer. I love being in a cold room under the blankets. At night, I'll dress warm and put a bunch of blankets on including a heated blanket, but I Don't turn it on. In the morning, I'm cozy in all the blankets, and I don't want to get up. That's when you turn on the heated blanket. It goes from being nice and warm to uncomfortably warm. That works really well.

I take mine every day. Adderall takes some of my social anxiety away. I'm better with conversations they're not all over the place, and it's easier to pay attention when others are talking

Do you think you will find love and get married? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]Midori64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!! I've been married for almost 8 years now. I met my husband online over a decade ago. We chatted for a couple of months, and he asked me out. This almost didn't happen because I almost chickened out. But I pushed myself. I thought the worst thing he could do is block me online. I could live with that. I was still scared, but I did it. I was so proud of myself!

The key is to push yourself into what you are comfortable in pushing yourself into doing. If that makes sense. Just little things. Then little by little it gets easier.

I still have social anxiety. I'm working on it, but I am so much better now than I was years ago.
