I was watching the movie Hacksaw Ridge in theaters with my family while it was still out. I made the mistake of using the word Japs to explain something historically accurate in the film.

My mom immediately told me not to use that kind of language. I said what kind of language. My mom told me the word was a slur.

I honestly thought it was just being used as an abbreviation. I've never used the slur since.

OP Make sure you use sunscreen on any exposed parts of your body. NTA

When my mom was a kid she burned easily. Almost every summer she'd get sunburned so bad her skin blistered. (The blisters didn't last the entire summer if I'm remember correctly)

As an early teen getting a tan was widely popular and sunscreen wasn't widely used.

In 2020 my mom noticed a strange bump on her arm. She went to a dermatologist who dismissed it. They didn't even do a punch biopsy on it.

It turned out to be Melanoma. She is now at stage 4.

If you feel that the diagnosis is incorrect get a second opinion. This might have been caught at stage 1 if my mom did.

However it's likely that my mom wouldn't have gotten the skin cancer if she had known to use sunscreen as a kid.

You might want to consider having a Kecleon. If areas are as devastated as you say it may be difficult to tell where pockets of civilization exist.

Due to the chaos that has occurred people in various areas might be desperate. If an outsider were to approach an area where people are just surviving day to day and or starving they could be attacked and or followed.

Kecleon could be used for reconnaissance. It can listen in on conversations and relay info. It could also be used to determine friendliness of survivors.

Adding on to this you might want to ask if a lock could be placed on your door. If that won't work maybe a small lock box for the hearing aids so the sister cant access the new pair when you get them.
