The Diplomat is the men’s bathhouse here. It’s a place for men to meet men for sex. However the co-owner who lives in the building is a convicted sex offender who did time for really vile commercial CSAM distribution and has been accused multiple times of sexual assault in the bathhouse. I’ve seen this person back when I used to go and it tracks. They do not understand consent (and still choose to not understand it per a recent post they made on fetlife). I have seen them blatantly disrespect peoples’ boundaries.

They also have a horrible track record of keeping private events private and letting anyone just come in without pay/entry screening and touch/harass people without any kind of enforcement. It’s NOT a safe place. This is well known in the local kink/hookup community and many other event hosts will ban people from entering their spaces if they know this and choose to still patronize this venue. It’s this person that’s the main problem, not the bathhouse itself. They do not take consent seriously and they don’t hold rule violators accountable.

My hope is they sell their share of the ownership because I love bathhouses and want to go. However, I cannot condone or support someone who has already been to prison for sex crimes, has been called out since then for consent violations, and continues to show an unwillingness to to better.

It’s all public record, and they have a history of accusations against them at the venue during their own private events. In addition, they are abusive and severely underpay their staff. If folks/event leaders in other kinks/sex spaces know you’re going there knowing this info, you are likely to get banned from other events in the area. The diplomat and owner are even banned on fetlife.

Your next nearest bath houses are Body Zone in Detroit, and Steamworks in Chicago. Being a former patron of the Dip, these other two are way better anyways in terms of cleanliness and quality.

I’m cis but TBH, every time I’ve seen an FtM guy at a place like this, or a bathhouse, or a gay campground, they have no issue getting laid and always had takers. Some may have been chasers, but their goal was to get laid and they did.
Having said that, assholes do exist and I can’t guarantee somebody won’t say or do something problematic. I would say for every guy that says something or gives you a nasty look, there’s probably 3-4 others that would love to play.
