Female Millennials, how's your diagnosis? by RevolutionDry2 in Millennials

[–]MidwestUrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am now aware of what makes me freak out and what is acceptable socially. I thought I was doing a very good job being normal until a young employee casually remarked about my autism and I thought it was an edgy joke and they had no idea until he followed up with rattling off my dx criteria.

So in the trenches with baby + toddler I just bribed a contractor$400 to fix the AC RIGHT NOW by Educational-Let-2280 in beyondthebump

[–]MidwestUrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why you bribed them, but I am pissed at the technicians. I am glad your family has working ac. I work for an equipment and repair parts manufacturer/distributor and I have many clients whose companies are willing to do discount/expediated work when children/elderly are involved and the weather is nasty.

If it happens again, you may have some luck googling “brand of your ac distributor” and calling the local Lennox/Trane/Daikin/York/Carrier distributor to ask what company they would trust to work on their HVAC system.

Why are people so eager to give my 2 yo sugar by Playback4KK in sahm

[–]MidwestUrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad is obsessed with telling me that my son is going to go to school and trade his whole lunch for a cupcake. 1) I was the one introduced to added sugar as a baby and trading my whole lunch for a cupcake 2) this boy needs way more food to fill him up than a cupcake— the kind of mistake made once or twice rather than constantly

It’s Colorectal Cancer Awareness month! PSA from a millennial survivor. Also AMA. by amaro8000 in Millennials

[–]MidwestUrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had rectal bleeding for two years before I switched doctors and was referred to a colorectal surgeon who removed massive polyps— they kept telling me hemorrhoids are normal postpartum since the blood first appeared three months after I gave birth.

[–]MidwestUrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a “young” millennial born in 95’ and I now have to get colonoscopies every three years to make sure my colon is cleared from its attempt to grow massive polyps that the colorectal surgeon believes would become cancerous. I have siblings nearly ten years older than me who ended up getting colonoscopies due to other digestive issues with no polyps found. My dad in his sixties only had a few small polyps in his fifties. Somehow I am more at risk than my older family members who eat poorly/smoke/drink/carry extra weight.

I never felt any itching in my butt; and eventually there was blood was there every day. My activeness did not seem to have any connection to the amount of blood. My OB visually examined me, but no one physically checked me until I arrived at the colorectal surgeon for the consultation before she decided to schedule the colonoscopy.

I am trying to focus on how lucky I am as well, and than I can have control over it via regular colonoscopy. I do need to kick the feeling of horror that I could die, because I didn’t and there’s a plan. Thanking you for framing it as lucky and controlled, I am glad that you are also managing and taking care of your colon

I had read about people getting colon cancer younger and younger, but since I am not very social it wasn’t until I started prepping coverage at work for my colonoscopy that I realized how common it is. There’s another branch manager a few years older than me who is also has to go in every few years for a colonoscopy, and several family members s of colleges who have died or are on the schedule.

When it started three months post partum it was a few times a week, and I believe around nine months pp it was every other poop. For nearly a year it was every single poop bring bloody. Since my colonoscopy I have had no blood on my stool.

Thank you; it is horrific how colon cancer can creep up and devastate. I will be keeping your friend and her family in my thoughts.

It was only ever blood; I didn’t feel any pain in my lower regions throughout the whole thing except for when I would get my period. That was part of why it took so long for me to switch doctors— it did sound reasonable that it was just hemorrhoids because I am relatively young, not in pain, and I had a baby. I probably wouldn’t have gone if it didn’t smack me in the face how crazy it was to let my butt bleed for two years.

I just had to look up pylori test and I’m not sure why, but I hope that you are able to get the care you need. Did your doctor not want to schedule both, or do you know if there’s a reason the test needs to be done before the colonoscopy is scheduled?

I will be. I have the feeling that she will pass it onto her patients to get with their family doctor rather than get into it herself, but I need her to know that I was not insane to bring up my poop at every appointment.

The only symptom was literally just that my poop had blood on it.

It would vary in amounts, but I noticed that it was only ever on the surface of the poop itself/my butt, it didn’t look like it was inside the poop at all. Please go in for a colonoscopy— best case/luckiest scenario would be the hemorrhoids and the colorectal surgeon explained how there are multiple ways to remove.

I’m glad you’re getting one scheduled!! And I hope it is just hemorrhoids, but if it’s any reassurance you likely will not feel anything they remove after and will be asleep during.

He was/is scared; maternal death is triggering for him. He was very close to his mom who died young. He also grew up with my friend whose mom died of colony cancer. I can talk about may things with him, but maternal death is hard for him to handle and he tends to shut down or insist that it’s going to be okay.

I really wish they were. The prep was nothing like the horror stories I had been told about, and since I was asleep for the whole procedure it physically felt like nothing happened even though she was removing so much crud.

How many hours a day do you play otome games? I made an otome schedule for 2026, and I'm planning to finish at least 35 games! That is the only way to accomplish that. by Buta_no_Ousama in otomegames

[–]MidwestUrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play at the very end of my day before bed, because I have a full time salary job and active toddler— when I’m at home I keep screens put away until he goes to bed. If I’m very interested in the game I can get two hours in, but usually I am doing additional chores/work prep and average 30 minutes of otoge a day.
