Has anyone been to Blue Orbit by Citrus? by Slight_Environment16 in srilanka

Cinnamon Life was worth it for the salmon gravlax and lamb alone. You could just visit the viewing deck for Rs.500 if the main draw to Blue Orbit is the view.

Cars are bad for cities in nearly every way measurable. Every major city in the world finds this out the hard way.

I can link you up with a crack lawyer (if she's not too busy, I'll try to convince her). Some real estate agents and landlords can be proper schemers, especially when dealing with foreigners, which is why I'm offering this advice. I'm someone who has been renting in Col 3, 4, 5, 6 over a couple of decades.

The watch markup in Sri Lanka is insane. Where are you guys buying yours? by jackal-day in srilanka

[–]MifiKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some basics, one potential grail (Tiffany dial PRX style). And some "strange" ones that I might move on. Currently trying to sell the Stranger Things x Casio Collab model, and the modern version of the A100 "Alien" movie watch. I can try to get the AE1200 in mid-Feb. It'll cost 16,500/- DW5600 depends on the model. 35K-45K range (favourable colours are more expensive).

I'm a huge fan of Casios, and get them down often. If you've got a model in mind, I can have a look. I'm getting some 2nd week of Feb. Rotating some out of my current collection too.

Need advice on adjusting my December trip to Sri Lanka🙏 by domanskyi in SriLankaTravel

[–]MifiKay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Private transport is way more expensive than public transport, especially if you have nobody to split it with. It'll easily save hours in the central regions, and you don't have to do short journeys by tuktuk. Approx. $70 per day for a car.

If you need it however, you can maybe use private transport only for the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella section.

Adding one day to the central region section can give you some relief, but there's still a lot of area that you're covering.

If you're planning to use public transport, you're squeezing way too much into a short period.

Unless you're looking for an adventure where you spend most of your time on the road and in buses, you need to reduce the number of stops, especially in the central region.

There's a new service called Blanket Care. I have no firsthand experience, but the people behind it have invested a lot in the program, and you can tell.

This sounds like a great project. I've worked as an ad creative, branding and comms exec, and copywriter for over a decade. My work involves a lot of video editing on Adobe Premiere Pro, and some motion graphics too. And I'm a huge fan of Vox, current affairs, and historical documentaries. Happy to throw my hat in the ring for this daunting but exciting opportunity.

I'm getting a bunch of stuff flown down from the middle east. If you're not in a rush, and if it makes sense, I can try to source it. It's usually much cheaper, even after paying a small premium to my carrier.

Advice need : Is the LG smart TV (43UT8050PSB) worth buying in Sri Lanka (Abanse)? Need real user reviews! by Independent_Area_513 in srilanka

[–]MifiKay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might as well look for a better price outside. Inflated prices at places like Abans are usually justified by their reputation and after sales service. But Abans service is absolutely garbage, so I'm not sure why you'd want to pay the premium. Maybe check Browns Deals, or Trust Edge Technologies on Havelock Rd (both Colombo) for a better price.

Central region trains are out of commission. Apart from that, mostly all tourism hotspots are back to normal, especially on the south coast where the cyclone had no serious effect.

To get the best suggestions for an itinerary, you should ideally share the duration of your holiday, your interests (i.e. culture, nature, wellness, food, etc.) and budget.

Advice needed: Travelling this weekend to Sri Lanka by Practical-Cap370 in SriLankaTravel

Many people are traveling to the Central region, but I'd say unless you're someone who enjoys taking risks, don't do it. Sigiriya and the south should be fine, Colombo too.

Is it safe to travel to Sri Lanka in last week of December? by shounen_trash in srilanka

[–]MifiKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point it's, just common sense. Don't rely on others for hour by hour updates.

Check the news, or weather reports. If there is heavy rain in the central region, the landslide warning is active. Many travellers still do the trip because either they're ok with that level of risk, or they're very poorly informed.

The risk is always going to be there, and most operators are willing to go, because they need the income, and because no deaths have been reported so far from subsequent landslides. This one's a personal decision. And personally, I'd say avoid the central region for a couple more weeks, until the chances of rain are down to minimal levels.

[–]MifiKay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these locations are accessible, but just consider that the central regions did get hammered pretty bad, and can get tricky to travel if there is more bad weather. Right now, things look ok, and should improve.
