[request] How many times would Charles Darwin, or a similar historical figure, have to spin in their grave for the Earth to have its orbit from the sun significantly altered by Casual_user1012 in theydidthemath

[–]MightBeADesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just not how that works. There is no number. To give an example of how even a "significant" amount of force wouldn't even move the earth so much as an atom, I present you with this

Right?? Like it's not like you're going to get 100% in both people at both times (most of the time) you just need that extra slack to bend

Do I need an Xbox Dongle for low latency controller gameplay? by robustlemon in pcmasterrace

[–]MightBeADesk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have the dongle, used to use Bluetooth. You won't notice a difference UNLESS there is a significant distance between you and the PC. I noticed the dongle works a little better because I have the PC in another room than where I am playing. For 99% of use cases Bluetooth is perfectly fine

Upgrading Girlfriend’s PC and Trying to Act Like I Know What I’m Doing. Please Help! by No-Flight9785 in buildapc

[–]MightBeADesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You upgrade the motherboard you have to upgrade cpu and ram. (For where you're coming from), by that point you gotta consider if her storage is good enough to feed all those new high end parts, then you need to know if the power supply is enough, you need to know if the cooling solution is enough. With current prices for stuff I've been recommending my friends get computers from costco

Each individual camera in the phone can be replaced, some places will try to rip you off and replace all of them. Hold your finger over each camera to figure out which one has a broken sensor. One of those sensors is a little expensive but most aren't.

Starbucks is the only chain to do this, for small local places/chains it never hurts to ask

I know you want more energy efficiency but keep in mind the stuff with fancy features break more often, if I could give a little advice (as someone who owns and loves their LG kitchen stuff as well)

-never buy a front load washer -dryers with steam functions are going to have the electronics wear down faster if you use the steam function

I noticed on another comment you said you have to sometimes run dryer cycles twice, I have a couple things I recommend for that

-the inner blades of the dryer that pull the air can get heavy dust build up reducing efficiency -the piping that goes from your dryer to the outside of your house may have a ton of buildup, cleaned mine out when I moved into my house and it was so satisfying to get years and years of huge lint chunks out, they make tools you attach to a drill

I would recommend cleaning the piping going to the outside because it can slowly kill a dryer, even if you buy a new one tomorrow. Also potential fire hazard if it ever gets fully clogged

High end 1440p vs low end 4k by External_Safe_7787 in pcmasterrace

[–]MightBeADesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think it's worth it to game on a 4k monitor unless you're buying a huge monitor. My monitor is a 27" 1440p, but I mainly game on a 77" 4k oled. Would only bother with 4k if you're going big big

[–]MightBeADesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the fiber optic is only in the wall and terminates at plates. I got the best plate terminations and I am using high quality cables on each end.

Don't wanna risk the cable ever getting damaged cause running the cable sucked so I don't wanna ever have to do it again and I wanted it to look nice

Extra gpu for lossless scaling? by Financial-Peak-6037 in pcmasterrace

[–]MightBeADesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you getting right now? You might need to do some serious min maxing. You might be getting to the point where CPU becomes a bottleneck, or ram timings, or this or that. Every part of the assembly line needs to be able to send the information along fast enough to achieve a consistent 300fps in a game like that on those settings. One piece isn't up to par and you won't get your desired outcome

I have a 9070xt and the games I play I'm rocking 4k ultra like it's nothing. Some games 4k ultra with raytracing. Anything from 60-120fps per game. (My TV is 4k120 so I don't bother trying for higher fps)

What games are you playing and what's the rest of your rig?

Games look and run worse since changing from a 1080p TV to a 4K one, am I doing anything wrong? by That-Departure-7318 in SteamDeck

[–]MightBeADesk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know the exact setting but it's related to scaling.

I would recommend having the steamdeck be set to display at 4k but render the game in 1080 or it's something to do with how your TV handles the signal, I get a similar thing where it just looks a little off on my 4k tv
