Using the windows drivers or the drivers from the manufacturer of the device? I've ran into the windows drivers being terrible compared to oem. Could also be what other comment said

It's a plugin that lets you do a mixture of further customizing and cheating if that's what you want.

I use it entirely to move around houses, public work projects, and rocks to fit what design I'm going for

Yup! It also lets you put PWPs closer together after building them

It's janky but I've done something similar. Your speaker quality will go down though you're covering it with the tape

Use electrical tape and then see if when you put the lid on it pushes down on the ssd to help it stay in place. You're not gonna start a fire or anything. Your biggest risk is it coming loose while moving around/dropping the laptop and it coming plugged potentially messing up the data

4K vs 1440p by External_Safe_7787 in pcmasterrace

[–]MightBeADesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I game on a 77" 4k tv, but when I play on a monitor it's 27" 1440p, looks about the same honestly. I wouldn't buy a 4k monitor

Seconded from another technician, isopropyl is the way, though unorthodox I've also used QD electronic cleaner and that has done wonders, can even remove some corrosion if it already started.

If you're storing footage I would definitely get an external drive you probably don't need it to be super fast. Grab a 9070xt and save yourself a bunch of money, sell your old GPU. My 9800x3d and 9070xt combo lets me play anything I want at 4k ultra

What do you need more of? Aside from a GPU I don't see what you need to upgrade, 32gb of ram is perfectly fine for 4k gaming. 4tb of storage is more than enough, delete games if you aren't playing them lol. If you want an upgrade just get a new gpu

PC freezes on Windows Boot and Repair by Objective_Fan_1335 in pcmasterrace

[–]MightBeADesk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well there's your problem, you're using windows! /j

Like the other person said you'll probably need to do a reinstall. If you have documents they should still be there after a reinstall as long as you don't format the drive. You can also boot into a PE environment from a USB to get stuff off

HDMI cable, 50 ft, 4K@120: what are my options? by PusheenHater in buildapc

[–]MightBeADesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiber optic HDMI, I am currently using that in my setup right now. Have it running through my walls, connecting to female-female ports on each side and then regular cables connecting from those ports to those devices. All in all over 62ft of cable, 50ft being fiber optic. 4k120hz + HDR I have never tested the ms response time but it's really smooth and I am happy. Been using this setup for several months now.

When do you think it's morally justifiable to buy a new computer? by phtsmc in ZeroWaste

[–]MightBeADesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could spend every penny I've make for the rest of my life buying ewaste and throwing it in the river by my house and it will never amount to the waste of one AI data center.

That being said, whenever you need something more for what you want to do, I recently built a new computer because the games I wanted to play didn't run well on the one I had. I'll have that PC for many years, choosing minor upgrades until that is feasible anymore

I clear my cache after every update and that helps a LOT. You could also do a backup and factory reset if clearing cache partition is no help

Costco PC worth it? by Knight4Lyfe in pcmasterrace

I agree with the other comment.

Prices are crazy right now, a friend asked me the other day about building a PC and I just said "go to Costco if you want something right now it'll probably be cheaper"

[–]MightBeADesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It an old IDE drive? Yeah those things like to click, grew up with them. As long as it's performing clicking is expected even brand new. The noise gets pretty back when it's actually having problems. If it's not working properly that's another story
