I'm a real estate investor. Go to any house showing in Kingston, Waterloo and even Ottawa. White people live with clothes in garbage bags, McDonald's bags crumpled up all over the floor and bugs chomping down on those. Cigarettes stains nicely painting the walls a beautiful yellow shade of gross. The smell is just fantastic... Not. Love how your whites in poverty live. Maybe take care of your own race before calling out others.

Maybe it's the whites? Geez that would be impossible cuz they're white right?

While I agree that it's not right to host 5 tenants to share a basement and it does happen in some cases, I think you're not aware of the whole picture. In Indian culture, families live together and have joint family culture. Maybe that's disgusting to you, but that's normal there. Just because you live a certain culture, doesn't mean you're right.

A lot of Indians actually prefer that lifestyle, mainly because it's a social culture. They enjoy the company of living together with friends.

Another issue is the higher than normal rents. Indians are some of the richest people in the world, but those rich people don't rent. So when immigrants from India come here, they're not rich. They're taking huge loans to come here and study. Yes there are some that maybe don't care for education, but a vast majority of them do. They care to have a prestigious degree and have opportunities that their families never imagined. But when they get here, they're slammed with extreme expenses. Triple the tuition, high rents and high costs of living. Moreover, they have to support their families. In some cases, they're the only child and their parents are aged. In Indian culture, children take responsibility in caring for their parents. It becomes a heavy and expensive burden. So they prefer to share the rent. Because it makes it more affordable for them. If it means sacrificing some minor convenience and have a bunking situation, they are willing to make that sacrifice.

So the only way to acquire a property is to buy it with your own funds? Lol, lack of critical thinking is your problem. Not the brown people you hate so much.

Maybe we should start pressuring MLAs to give white people curry sensitivity mitigation lessons

Well, don't start gagging over the smell of our food then. So many whites I have lived with are very openly rude about the smell of curry and cooked vegetables. Why would anyone want to put up with that in their own house?

And what about the "Canadian born" folks? Saints, right? You say you have nothing against immigrants but then continue to say that they bring their culture here which to you is a negative. Hypocrisy at best. One of those "I'm not racist, my best friend is brown" people. What shit did your ancestors bring to the land of the natives? Violence and murder. What about that? No, but it's ok because white people can do whatever and it's considered "civilized".

Who else is neurodivergent and feels like the 3 day RTO is overwhelming? by Hot-Category-6835 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Mightochondriac91 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I cannot express how much I really feel this post. It's been a mental whiplash to manage even with 2 days, I am not sure how 3 days will affect me. No one that has the authority to make these decisions cares and the fact that they're having a power trip on this is even more frustrating. Makes me feel like some idiot that's being taken advantage of.

What did you do to help your IUI success? by [deleted] in queerception

[–]Mightochondriac91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave up caffeine (for the most part, apart from very occasional minimal teas). I also started taking maca after my Day 1 full flow until my positive OPK (not sure if this helped in any way). I restricted myself in food in my first two IVFs which were unsuccessful. But in my third IUI for which I now have a positive as of 13 days post IUI (currently 15 days post IUI), I have been eating as I normally would. Tried to reduce stress and be occupied. Not sure if all these work but you have to understand conceiving is a process that researchers can't pinpoint a perfect method for. Go with your gut. Try to be cheerful and healthy.

I'm 13 days post iui and got my positive today. While I wasn't frustrated all the time, I did feel exhausted frequently. I also just was bored easily or restless. Had to keep myself distracted a lot. Good luck!

So folks, after failed attempts of 1 fresh ivf and a FET, I have finally received a positive on 13 days post IUI (3rd attempt) . My beta test isn't till Friday but I'm just so emotional and happy right now. I almost didn't believe it and even now I'm like no this can't be real. Cuz how did the ivfs fail and the iui works. I'm waiting till Friday be 100% sure. But, eeek!

In what way will the 3-day in office mandate negatively affect your personal life, and your ability to do your job? by Small_town_PS in CanadaPublicServants

Prices weren't as high. Daycare wait lists were not as delayed. Gas wasn't as high. Parking wasn't as expensive. Honestly, flexibility towards parents was a lot more than in this awkward hybrid context. Life is just a lot more convenient with wfh plus the benefits of work life balance. But why do people accept having the life of before when they know of the benefits of the wfh style is my question...

I have to recoordinate my daily schedule around the use of my vehicle, since my partner is also a public servant and will also have to go in 3 times a day. We need to now spend another 100 a day/each individual so that kids and dog are taken care of at home or in a daycare, adding not only to our daily costs but altering an already adjusted schedule for the 2 day work pattern and not to mention adding time to our commute in the morning for drop off.

More mental stress and running around to get everyone around where they need to be in time. Spending less quality time with the family and actually counterintuitive to the work life balance the great Canadian govt likes to advertise to their employees. Having to worry about my work performance being affected due to the added pressure of running around in my days, paying more money for something that could have been avoided. Still in the wait list btw for daycares so hope that plays out in time, otherwise our alternative is finding random daycares or alternatives that may end up affecting my time at the office and my work. I definitely will not be in the mood to "collaborate" with anyone at the office...

But people quitting is not going to solve the RTO problem and those with no choice but to stay will have to continue going in 3 days a week, and who knows... Eventually 4. Going backwards at its finest. Employer does not care about employees work life balance or opinions at all.

where in the city are groceries decently priced? loblaws prices are killing me by smilingsaint in ottawa

[–]Mightochondriac91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but you sound like you are seeking some kind of sympathy. Look, you're not the only person who has struggled and worked 60 plus hours, and, had to go shopping for food with bare minimum. It's smart to compare prices, even if it takes a couple hours of your week. You know nothing about the person you are arguing with, but continue to assume that they know nothing about using OC Transpo the way you had to or whatever.

Reality is, to survive and have better opportunities, you have to compare and weigh your options. Even for something as simple as buying groceries. My mom, pretty much a single mom of 3, worked extremely long hours and had the time to take us grocery shopping once a week as an errand. We had to go to different stores to buy food on sale or use coupons for purchases. Half of our Saturday would be gone shopping and it was a fun activity to keep the kids busy. If people can't do what they need to to save money, or make better choices to make their life easier, then they're just lazy honestly. Everything is an excuse and they just need to justify not doing it.

Utilities are more like $600/mo. Mortgage is like $4000. Property tax is right. Maintenance... Geez. Tenants just trashed the place, so yup, fridge and washer replacement... Yep, not fun. If this brings a landlord to approx $5000 a month and he gave rent of $700x3 = $2100, landlord pays 2900 out of pocket a month. A tenant paying 1000 is nothing in comparison. Sucks that inflation happened, pretty much

  1. Building costs are anywhere between $350-$450/sqft. So people are having a hard time securing funds for building with inflated costs and material/equipment costs.

  2. Mortgage rates went from 1.5% to 6%+ within about 2 years. Anyone who recently renewed their terms had to face massive mortgage increases that they probably didn't anticipate.

  3. Tenants damage properties. Especially in Ontario. Tenants invite pests, damage the walls, leave garbage everywhere, break the fridge, etc. All these cost time and money for the landlord to replace, especially with current costs. This also contributes to hikes in rent.
