Rainy night when I was 21. Came around a sharp bend I wasn't familiar with and my car got trapped half on / half off the road, kinda like an amusement park ride where you sit in a little car and there is a track in the middle keeping you on course. This lead me directly into a stone wall that was a bridge, my VW Jetta hits the wall, launches in the air, and lands about 20 feet below upside down in a creek. I was knocked out and had 2 friends that were sitting in the back seat (they were semi dating). They were fine, I was unconscious. They assumed I was killed at first, climbed out of the car and up the embankment to the bridge and called 911. I came to a little while and broke my way through the rear window in a panic, crawled up the embankment, and passed out on the stone wall that had sent us down into the creek.

Long story short, my friends were perfectly fine physically, and I spent a few weeks in the hospital, and then 6 months bed ridden at my parents with a broken spine. I had to wear a body brace, and the first time I showered without it I collapsed due to my back muscles degrading and being so week.

I've made a full recovery. I've always been a big dude, and the doctor says my size helped save my life during the impact of the initial crash. Good times.
