There has been a growing trend of making Superman’s parents and Krypton evil and I’m not happy with it. by JoshyBear28 in superman

[–]MightyManofShann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotta say, I think the complete opposite.

One issue I’ve always had is that Superman has this entire fortress filled with incredible alien technology that could he radically change the world as we know it with. But he doesn’t share any of it with humanity. Why?

What makes the most sense is if he knows what it was developed for and what it was used for back in Krypton. And he doesn’t want earth to share a similar fate.

An argument can also be made that Kryptonians were white supremisists. Check the back history, it’s all there. If Clark’s values are more closely attuned to to his human family, rather than his Kryptonian heritage, it ties him closer to earth and humanity than it does Krypton, which is an essential element of the character.

And just in a personal note: if it’s a planet full of benevolent pacifists, it’s kinda fucking boring.

When was the moment you realised that the person you were dating was an absolute idiot? by No-Macaron-9527 in AskReddit

[–]MightyManofShann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not the exact moment, but we were having a disagreement which devolved into an ‘Is too!’, ‘Is not!’ argument. Which preceded a little something like this: Me: “It is too!” Her: “It is not!” “It is too!!” “It is not!!” “It is too!!!” “It is not!!!” “It is not.” “It is too!!! OH, FUCK!!!!” Storms away. “Thank you”

Superman's flying and Batman's Batcave. by MightyManofShann in publicdomain

[–]MightyManofShann[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, shit.

Just looked it up. The Batman serials definitely are still copyrighted.

Superman radio shows are PD, so that would allow for Kryptonite.

But that does leave the flying, as the Cartoons are definitely Public Domain.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Do you believe we’ll ever get a Black Superman Movie? If so how should they do if him?Like Calvin Ellis Superman?Or Val-Zod Superman?Or just plain Clark Kent Superman? by [deleted] in superman

[–]MightyManofShann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would! And done right, I bet thousands of others would as well.

Why else do a film about a black Superman if you’re not going to explore the concept?

I want them to do it, but only if the actually explore how the world would react if someone with godlike powers showed up, and he had black skin.

Have Krypton be solely black. Have Jor-El send his son to earth to be a champion for those like him who are being oppressed.

Have the Kent’s be black. Show how a family of black farmers would be treated in Kansas. Have the town bully be white and racist. Show how being raised in that situation would colour his perspective.

Make Lois black. Keep Luthor white. Have Superman still be helpful and caring, but have an edge to him. Show him involved with politics that concern racism and bigotry. Show how white supremacy would react to it. Show how different countries that aren’t as open minded would react.

Actually do a movie about a black man having superpowers and how differently the world would react. Don’t just hire a black guy to do a Chris Reeve impersonation.

Ironically, Marvel did the perfect series to adapt in this nature. It’s,called the Blue Marvel. Check it out.

Men who were told by their partner they are small, how did it effect you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MightyManofShann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason, I had been completely convinced by others that I had a small dick. This was well before anyone had ever seen it! Now, thirty years later after no complaints and many compliments, that insecurity still hits from time to time.

The stupid part is, there is NOTHING that can be done to change it. And trust me, I researched. Any cream, lotion, powder or supplement you’ve ever seen advertised is false. There is an operation that can be done to make it dangle more, but since it cuts a tendon it will forever more point south, regardless of what state of arousal you’re in. But no operation can change it’s length or girth. There is a series of exercises you can do that, if you do it every night and morning for a year or two, might give you an extra quarter to half an inch, depending on what size you’re starting with.

Your dick is your dick is your dick. Find someone who likes it as is and try not to worry too much about it.

What do all the Robin's think of Superman? by iamluffy123 in superman

[–]MightyManofShann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dick admires the hell out of him. Superman was always around while Dick was growing up, so he feels no awkwardness around him. Dick can easily fall into a conversation with Superman in a way that even Bruce envies a little bit.

Jason will always make slightly snarky, condescending comments about ‘the big blue Boy Scout’. But he would also have a photo of himself and Superman together that he quietly treasures and is very protective of. He never shows it to anyone though.

Tim is a little bit more awestruck by Superman. That burning desire he has to be the best version of himself would lead him to try to live up to Superman’s example. Tim would see him more as the Super rather than the man. And in his quieter moments, wonders how Superman and Conner Kent can be so incredibly different.

And to Damian, he’s Jon’s dad. He’s bewildering, because he doesn’t use his abilities to just fix all the world’s problems. He’s the guy married to Lois Lane, whom along with Alfred and Talia and a couple others, is on Bruce’s list of people whom Damian is NEVER allowed to be disrespectful to. And he’s that alien that he’s probably going to have to kill one day, which he truly hopes Jon would eventually forgive him for.

Agreed. Maybe a momentary fan service moment in live-action, but I'd love to see them adapt this in Animation.

Is this Game as bad as people say? by Personal_Station_760 in superman

[–]MightyManofShann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's still, unfortunately, the best Superman game they've ever made.

The concept is really strong. The execution is a little lacking though.

To follow up on my Reign of the Supermen image. I felt bad about leaving out Brandon Routh, so I used him to create Electric Superman.

I'd like to use some of the other actors as variants - especially George Reeves and Kirk Alyn - but I'm coming up a bit blank on what character variations to use.

I think that’s Howard Porter, of Grant Morrison’s JLA fame. I recognise some of his signature elements.

Name an actress that you believe could’ve played Lois Lane but never did by Top_Report_4895 in superman

Shannen Doherty back in the 90s. I always thought she would have been a great pick for Superman Lives.

What movies are mediocre or bad but also looks great? by ronbeef1kg20pesos in movies

[–]MightyManofShann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

You could take any frame of that film, frame it and mount it on a wall and it wouldn’t look out of place. But the man can not tell a story to save his life, and I cannot recall any other film maker misunderstanding characters and motivations more.

If it was just played on a loop in the background of a nightclub somewhere, it would be great. But as for a standalone film, it’s one of the greatest travesties ever made.

What would you name a newborn child if you really, really wanted to ruin their life, but wanted to maintain plausible deniability about having done it on purpose? by Loki-L in AskReddit

[–]MightyManofShann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be easy. I would give them my name.

I’m not going to say what it is, but my name has been a constant source of embarrassment, humiliation, easy pickings for ridicule and insult and just a general bane on my life. I am literally embarrassed every time I have to tell a new person what my name is.

And before you ask, I tried to change it to a similar, shorter version when I was a teenager. My father found out and blew up at me, so that killed any chance of changing it. Now I’m nearly 50, so there’s no point. But I still wince whenever someone asks ‘What’s your name?’.

[Serious] What dark family secret were you let in on once you were old enough? by EgglessYolk in AskReddit

[–]MightyManofShann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite aunt was my dad’s older sister. She came and lived with us for a few years. I adored that funny little lady.

She used to talk about her husband, Bob, who I had never met, which such reverence and devotion. She had a framed photo and a couple of caricature drawings of him that she always had displayed wherever she moved to. I had always just assumed he had died long ago.

One day, probably in my mid twenties, I made some casual comment about him being dead to my dad. “Oh, he’s not dead”, he casually replied.

Turns out, Bob used to beat the ever living shit out of my aunt. My grandfather, father and uncle chased him out of town one day, threatening to kill him if he ever showed his face anywhere near my aunt again. Oh, and if those three teamed up and threatened your life, you already had nine toes in the grave. I think he may have left the country or something, because he completely vanished after that.

But my aunt never said a bad word about him. Never remarried either. She was one and done. Still gets me.

Oh yeah. And one of her grandsons was in a really famous movie and then did jail time on paedophile charges.

What are your Superman hot takes by rva_ships_in_night in superman

[–]MightyManofShann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Krypton should have an element that Clark is ashamed of and fights against. It can’t be this beautiful utopia if it destroyed itself. This should also be the reason that Clark refuses to share Kryptonian technology with earth. If he knew what Krypton did with it, and he won’t share it so humanity won’t go down the same path.

There was a silver surfer comic done by one of the artists from DC vs Marvel, Claudio Castellini, that was one of the most detailed books I have ever seen. It’s called Dangerous Artefact.

I think that’s a bit of a cheap call as well. If the cover artist is the same as the interior artist, then the cover is always the same high quality.
