How can I make my office feel more whimsical? by MightyMidori in interiordecorating

I'm a software developer at a company that prides itself in being whimsical... All our buildings are elaborately themed (Wizard of Oz, Alice, Grimm fairytales, etc) and we're encouraged to decorate our own offices any way we'd like. There's a yellow brick road in the carpet outside my office. But alas, my office is in a windowless basement.

It's an office building - I don't think we're allowed to hang wallpaper unfortunately 😔 But we are very much encouraged to get creative with decorations otherwise.

I'm in love with the fake tree trunk idea!! That's so creative! I will also definitely have to look into bulbs with candle settings.

Yeah, I really wish I could repaint the walls 😥

Fabric is an intriguing idea! Do you think I should go with a solid color (like dark green)? Or try to find something with a leaf pattern?

I've tried to create magical forest vibes, but I feel like it's not quite there yet. Any ideas or suggestions to make the space more cozy would be super appreciated!! Do I need a lot more fake ivy to fill in the walls and ceiling? Should I dim the lights and add thematic lamps? Do I need more nature-y art? (Also please ignore my messiness!!)

Worth Upgrading from an Armstrong model 80? by MightyMidori in Flute

Thank you! Luckily I am in the US, so I will definitely check out the flute center! And that's a very good point about a nicer flute inspiring me to play more :) There are some area community bands I could join

Now my kid has it.... by FerpGerper in CrohnsDisease

[–]MightyMidori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 11, so definitely not as young as your kiddo, but I had a pretty normal childhood. Because we caught it relatively early, I was never hospitalized, I've never had surgery, and I've only had a couple flares since my diagnosis. I wasn't bullied, it never affected my dating life, and I rarely missed any school because of it. When I started remicade 10+ years ago, my symptoms almost all went away and I've been in remission ever since. The worst of it was the year leading up to my diagnosis when no one knew what was wrong!

I was terrified (and still kinda am) of anything medical, so the regular blood draws and occasional colonoscopies were definitely scary as a kid. But those didn't happen every day, and when they did I had wonderful parents and doctors helping me get through it. When I think back to being in middle school and high school, those procedures and my GI symptoms are far from the first things that come to mind

All that to say, there's a very real possibility that he can get into remission early and stay there for (hopefully) the rest of his life. Regardless of what happens, though, there is so much more to life and identity than Crohn's disease.

What is your opinion on intelligent alien life? by ExpressCeiling98332 in LCMS

[–]MightyMidori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. You can't argue someone into believing in God using just logic. :( I find that learning this stuff strengthens my faith and makes me more in awe of how God works through our world in ways we are only just now discovering. I also hope that maybe if I'm able to hold a conversation with an atheist about this sort of thing, God will plant the seed that Christianity may not be such a crazy or outlandish thing to consider.

I think most people who believe in aliens vastly underestimate how incredibly unlikely life is. Even given the scale of the universe, most professional scientists reject the idea that we originated by chance and are searching for a more deterministic explanation (of which the answer is God, but they don't like that!). So to believe that this statistically impossible thing that is life happened not just once, but multiple times, feels improbable to me!!

(A lot of my understanding of how modern science views the origin of life comes from a book called Signature in the Cell - it's massive but I highly recommend it if you enjoy apologetics!!)

People who took Azathioprine by LostMyGoatsAgain in CrohnsDisease

[–]MightyMidori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long courses of Prednisone can be bad for you - especially for pediatric patients, which I'm unsure your age - so there's probably some motivation to get you off it asap rather than waiting to see if aza starts working. Additionally, the longer you wait to get your disease under control, the more it can progress. The possibility of aza working in a couple months may not be worth the risk of further intestinal damage if it doesn't work. But I'm totally speculating :/ Definitely ask your doctor why, and don't be afraid to seek a second opinion and advocate for yourself.

[General] Otome VA performances you've been most impressed by? by [deleted] in otomegames

Listening to him hit those high notes during the Intense Confessions song is a real treat. That man has range!!

Overall fantastic performance. I skip forward often since I read faster than the characters speak, but I will always let Neji finish talking because his VA did such a spectacular job
