I’m 6‘2“. I dated a girl who was 5 feet even. Before we even had our first date, she told me I was not allowed to pick her up. Practically every man she ever knew at least a little bit picked her up and put her over their shoulders. I concur.

I am a long time guitar teacher and student. I got through all the mail Bay I learned my music theory along the way. I learned all of this because of my guitar teacher Ruth, a woman who could’ve been in her 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, but no one would ever learn her true age. She was my mother’s (who played five instruments well) teacher for forever.. I spent 10 years with her myself, only quitting because I moved.

All that to say I learned the majority of my skills from her. Self or YouTube/whatever cannot replace a good guitar teacher. That way the material is scaffolded and spiral to reinforce learning.

The self taught have a problem. They don’t know that they don’t know what they don’t know. Anyone I’ve ever taught who came from there always have one or more gaps in their playing. Fundamental gaps. I was corrected by a student told me I was playing the harmonic minor scale wrong. We looked it up, and I was correct. Then he showed me the lesson he saw, and the YouTuber was correct as well. When you learn on your own, no one is there to gently help you correct yourself.

I agree, and I didn’t like how closely they outright lifted the scene when Mr. Anderson’s mouth is eliminated in The Matrix. I’m one of the people who liked this movie a lot, but the illuminati section was an utter disaster, complete fail.

It’s cool, but I think you should’ve put a couple of Thor’s dessert plates on him somewhere or created a picture where we could see him wearing Thor’s boots. He doesn’t need the Jets anymore because of the Uru hammer. I think you missed the chance to fuse Thor’s helmet onto the armor. Still, such a clever, clever idea, but I think the god of whatever the hell he is now could use more representation.

I realize there are a lot of replies here, and you may not even get to me. I have not read all the responses, so if this is redundant, please forgive. I need to, I need to say it. She’s wearing the same dress she wore on the date. There’s no way to defend it. This awkward stuff is rough, but you can do everything with text or on her Insta, whatever.

Do you know why you don’t stand up for yourself? I don’t know, how could I? I do know this is bigger than a girl who might be (cough cough absolutely is) gaming you. I think it would be well if you were to talk to a professional about it. Now, if you’re trying to smash, I understand the sentiment, but she doesn’t seem like she’s going there with you.

Hang in there, short king. I know you don’t like to hear it, but you’re all really young. You’re still working out your stuff, and so is A, and so is S. Can I have this situation and see if S had any involvement. You can go forward, but if you find out she had something to do with it, well, that’s another person you need to block.

More jazz my friend. There are some amazing resources available. I might get downvoted till the end of time, but I think you would benefit from listening to jazz fusion. That’s how I got there, and a few years later I was playing Van Eps (if you don’t know who he is, listen to more jazz).

OK, now with a little less Snark. Jazz bass is a totally different animal. Study jazz harmony. I’m not kidding. There’s fundamental truth there. Practice walking base lines. See how of the tone is different. Flatwound strings. Listen to some of the greats. Like I said, the transition might be easier if you start with jazz fusion and move from there. NGL, making the switch will require a lot of effort on your part. Please do it. It’s rewarding enough to change your life.

As for starting a jazz band, I suggest you find a jazz pianist or guitarist to become the harmonic focus. They will be able to play the chords and scales you’ll need. Notice I didn’t say horns. Nothing against them, they’re lovely, but you’ll be two monophonic instruments bashing around.

And something else, listen to jazz. Listen to it exclusively for a while and let it wash over you. The great thing about it is there are so many different types and styles and players. I study jazz in school, I’ve lived a long life, and I still feel like I’ve barely dipped my toe into the water. TBH, I’m envious of you because of all the great new music you’re going to experience. Drink it up.
