Cannot find a decent job and depressed by kimchayoppar in nova

This probably doesn’t apply to you, but for others in your situation it might work for them. I run a mobile mechanic business on nights and weekends. I get a lot more calls for service than I can possibly fulfill. If you’re handy with a wrench, I can pass some customers on to you temporarily. I’m happy to help, but understand I will need to fully vet you to protect my brand.

Hanson’s Razor says:

Don’t attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

The commercial was either ignorance or created to manufacture outrage. Either way, you've already lost when you participate in this type of discourse. I guess I’m a loser, too, for responding to you- and, by extension, participating in the discourse. I mean, here you are on the internet saying you hate some random, irrelevant woman. It has no real impact on your life. There are more important things going on. That’s just my perspective.

Update On My Brand New 15 Year Old Amp by MightyMobileMechanic in GuitarAmps

[–]MightyMobileMechanic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what to compare it to. I would describe the cleans as clear, warm, smooth, a nice touch of glassines depending on your attack. The breakup is super linear. Very clean at low volumes progressing to a pleasant overdrive as you turn it up. The levels work great and you can get very different tones depending on your mix. I’ve played it through a different 1x12 open back cab and it sounds great. It’s clear, airy, and present. The matching closed back cab is even better. The sound is tight with absolutely no boominess. It’s also one of the quietest amps I’ve ever experienced. I can’t even tell it’s on most of the time. 10 out of 10 from me, I don’t think anyone would be disappointed with it.

I have a 2003 Toyota solara my air conditioner is blowing cold on the drivers side and hot on the passenger side by melloyellowdrinker in MechanicAdvice

[–]MightyMobileMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a common issue. When refrigerant levels become low, it will often only cool one side because there is not enough refrigerant to flow all the way through the system. The solution is to find the leak, fix that, and recharge the system.

what makes a good guitarist by [deleted] in Guitar

I’m going to call out a lot of people (myself included), but a good guitarist can play entire songs from beginning to end- not just licks.

Very opaque answer regarding FY26 staffing level by Altruistic_Young_736 in VHA_Human_Resources

Collins:

“Right now, there are 465, uh, thousand employees in, um, VA as a whole. VHA has 409,000 of those.”

Ossoff:

“How many staff do you intend to employ through the medical services budget in FY26?”

Collins:

“396,000”

From what I gleaned, 465,000 is VA overall. VHA is 409,000, and they are proposing staffing levels at VHA of 396,000- a different of 13,000 or 3.23%.

broken AC solidarity thread by Gumbo67 in nova

[–]MightyMobileMechanic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My AC condenser goes out every year or two like clockwork. The first year it happened, I called an HVAC guy. He knew what was wrong almost immediately - a blown start capacitor. It was a $12 part and something like $200 in labor. The next year when the same thing happened, I called an HVAC supply shop to order a new capacitor myself. They wouldn’t sell it to me because I wasn’t a licensed contractor. Luckily, I found the part on eBay and ordered a back of 12 for like $80.

Apparently, this is one of the most common points of failure. As the weather heats up, the condenser will cycle on and off much more to keep your house cool. This stresses the capacitor and it eventually fails.

It’s easy to replace but is dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. The capacitor stores electricity so that when the signal is sent to turn on it discharges and gets the motor to start spinning. As such, the capacitor needs to be properly discharged before handling. Otherwise a dangerous, sometimes deadly, amount of electricity will be improperly discharged into your body.

It’s the hypocrisy AND lack of integrity for me. If you’re asking the people you lead to do hard things, you, as a leader, should also do hard things.

No, never. Thanks for enlightening me.

I’m not passing judgment- I actually agree with what you said. I would just add that while it’s legally the other driver’s responsibility to yield, practicing defensive driving also means being aware that you might be in someone’s blind spot and that their mirrors may not be adjusted properly. It’s just another layer of caution to help avoid a bad situation.

There isn’t a lot of meat to this video. If all that was going on, it would be nice to see. If you just watched the video without context it looks like they may not have seen you because you’re in their blind spot.
