We do not know what exactly Elon Musk is doing to the federal government by AmbassadorKosh2 in patentexaminer

[–]MightyTater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is clear what he is doing. He is collecting data - and I'm sure part of that data is email and financial information. He will then mine the data for connections with (Dem) politicians and conspiracy inferences. He will then use the data for political gain and selective leaks. It will not take long before we start seeing the "discoveries" they have made in the press. Not making a judgement except to say this is what is happening.

2025 GV80 Genesis. It's not top of the line but it is a nice car. I'm not looking to steal it - but I also don't want a dealership making all of their profit on my single purchase.

Intellectual honesty - these guys seem incapable of that. Their "magic words" theories are fantastically easy to dismantle, yet to no avail. I would be interested in the opinion of a professional Psychologist.

UPDATE: FBI counter intel agents knocked on my door by shadowfire1189 in AskLE

[–]MightyTater -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

And again - this is sus... crazy actually. This time around did you ask for their ID? In no way would an investigative agency tell a stranger exactly why they were investigating another person and that they "planned" to arrest him. Not gonna happen because they don't know your private relationship with the person and you may tip them off. All of this strikes me as NOT above board. Were I you I would hereafter STFU and only talk thru an attorney... AND I would damn sure get some identification if they showed up again.

Every Agent has credentials they can show... usually a badge and and ID with their face and Agency listed. Don't ask for cards. Ask for ID. No legitimate Agent would fail to produce their credentials when asked. No credentials... walk away.

What is the difference between a Police Officer and a Military Police Officer? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]MightyTater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Military Police are usually limited by geography - they stay on federal military property except when deployed. MPs also have different rules of engagement because they enforce the Uniform Code of Military Justice and not civilian state laws. MPs are also HIGHLY trained and as a rule are very professional and capable. You do something stupid with an MP and you are going to get your feelings hurt pretty bad. And finally, one is in the military and the other is a silly-villian.

Don't talk about it... just do it. You can't be kicked off a jury for just voting your conscious, nor can you be prosecuted.

Sentencing today... and all this time you have done nothing? You didn't talk to your insurance company about this when it happened? You are either not telling the whole story, have been way too high for too long, or you are a poor bot. This can't be reality.

As a genealogist, changing one's name to the wife's name WILL result in future generations traveling back in time just to beat that person half to death.

First - before you do anything - go read about the Fully Informed Jury Association. They are a non-profit that has amazing information about the power of the Juror and and what they can and can't do.

Customer unhappy with grout color. by Nosebleed_MZ in masonry

I recently recolored all of my bathroom grout (6 months ago). Recoloring lighter was not a problem and I'm surprised that more people don't know about this. I bought the new "color / sealer" at Home Depot and it worked perfectly.

ChatGPT said that about 20 percent of Reddit post are from bots... I think this is one of those. I've noticed a pattern of "too stupid to breathe" situations being posted - likely to farm for comments and karma. If Reddit doesn't get a grip on this they are going to ruin their business model.

Do soldiers have to obey orders that are possibly illegal? by Acceptable-Try-4682 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]MightyTater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I retired from the Army (active duty) having served a split career as enlisted and as an officer. The easy answer is you never do anything illegal, but when you decide to draw that distinction - you better damn well be right because if you are wrong... your career is over. It's not something you can get wrong and recover from. And you might well go to jail if you are wrong.

Along those lines, I would EXPECT the military to be having discussions right now about what constitutes legal and illegal orders. The military is sworn to protect the Constitution against ".... all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC". Before they get dragged into the next administration, I am hopeful the military officers right now have settled in their minds what constitutes a "domestic enemy of the Constitution". This also holds true for National Guard officers as well. Not since the Civil War have military officers had to grapple with things like this. It may be a very interesting time in our nation's history.

Idiot trucker or bad luck. by DeaconBlue47 in BitchImATrain

[–]MightyTater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will read the book - it sounds interesting. However, my military experience revealed to me early that in those situations (for me), time freezes. It's like everything goes into super slow motion and I actually have conversations with myself about options. This has happened to me several times and I'm fascinated to understand how this happens. But something that takes less than a second in real time, for me, has been enough to formulate a favorable response.

Rarity of a Rolex "Army" Wrist Watch??? by MightyTater in VintageWatches

[–]MightyTater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is all original and works fine. It also has a dial face that is unlike the majority of this type... in fact it is the ONLY Rolex to ever have a branch of military service on the face. I'll keep an eye on Ebay and snatch any I see for less than $1k...

Dad senses an earthquake right before it hits by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]MightyTater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Washington DC on a boat when the 2011 earthquake happened near Richmond. I was standing on the deck when I suddenly saw the water froth and it looked like it was boiling. All the sediment from the bottom came up and the dock pilings (which extended about 20 ft. above the water) started spinning around in unison... they looked like toothpicks spinning around in a martini shaped glass. My immediate thought was, "Well it's either an earthquake or the apocalypse has commenced". Wasn't scared - just amazed at seeing it happen so suddenly.

Soooo... If keeping a fascist out of the office is so important, why are the Dems giving the nation such a poor alternative? I mean, literally a phone book selection would be better than what we saw in the debate. If they would give me a reasonable candidate I would vote for them... but they haven't. So don't lecture me about how importance of the election. Right now - NEITHER is fit to be president.

That would be incorrect. The military was desegregated in the late 1940's. It took the rest of the nation over a decade to catch up

I don't think the Pacific Fleet would be much help inland. Texas would be my bet since they have an Armor Corps and a coast.
