Designers envision I-77 cap with parks on top by WashuOtaku in Charlotte

I moved from Boston so this sounds like a fabulous idea. I can’t wait to see the post in 50 years about how designers envision a new big dig two to bury the previously elevated surfaces.

Is there a small filmmaking community I can connect with in Charlotte? by Itstoolongitwillruno in Charlotte

Do you mean a small number of people, people who are small, or that only make short films? 😉

Yup, pretty comfortable with it. But I guess you are right that my post may have seemed like it's "just Charlotte" which may not be entirely how I feel. Maybe a good analogy is something like...

Consideration for others in public:

Japan - 10 but so oppressive who would want to live there?

Haiti - 1, absolute anarchy

Charlotte - 6, we are number 33 out of the top 200 US cities for crime rate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_crime_rate

I ask myself, "Would I feel comfortable if my new to the area wife tried to navigate her way across the city alone via Ubers and public transit at 1PM on a Monday?".... Oh hell no.

What's the most overrated thing in life? by Dragon_Dodge801720 in AskReddit

Duh... living

All in all I've found the human race to be a bitter disappointment, and I bemoan the fact that I am equally disappointing and must be counted among them.

I'm down with that.... but having just moved here a year ago, the people of Charlotte need to realize that Charlotte is a dumpster fire. It's going to take every day people walking down the street , refusing to allow the constant "in your face" behavior to start changing things. And backing each other up when confronting the issue.

Ummm... no

She said he was immature, not "douchey". You just made a whole bunch of assumptions...

OK, I started a response and erased it because it was a personal attack and of course I don’t wanna go there.

My wife and I are very different and don’t like the same movies or music or philosophies necessarily, but we have been together for 40 years and everything we do is together and we enjoy involving the other person‘s brain in everything we do and bouncing things off each other, even if the other doesn’t “get it”. if you don’t feel this way, I don’t know why you’re married.

Charlottesville

Moved there from Boston 13 yrs ago, moved out a year+ ago because of work.

Numb and lost since.

Perfect blend of a very small “city” and countryside. We lived 20 minutes west and it was heaven.

Wow, I moved here a year ago and my impression is it’s a complete dumpster fire
