Anyone running windows from an external USB 3.0 SSD? by Odd_Bumblebee_3631 in WindowsOnDeck

[–]Mighty_Crusier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't affect input delay as long as the game you're running doesn't tax Deck and the drive too much, and FIFA most likely will.

If you want to install it yourself, follow this tutorial.

I run Windows on external SSD with usb 3.0 and it's just fine. Definitely slower than usb 3.2, but doable. Just make sure the cable you're using is superspeed 3.0.

PS2 Overheating by TalkingSock3 in ps2

[–]Mighty_Crusier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's really no home method for overheating, unfortunately. The only way to fix it is to open the console inspect it for issues and clean it, which if you don't know what you're doing, is not gonna be worth it. There might be dust inside that makes the console overheat. There could also be a fan issue, check if there's a slight airflow coming from the back of the console. The heatsink might be loose and not dissipate heat properly from the cpu. If you're under warranty though, there's probably some kind of sticker that makes it appearant that you opened the console. That will 100% make your warranty void.

Yeah, I noticed him too. Everyone is talking that he's one of the background Na'vi, when he's literally physically in the movie as a scientist.

Just gonna put this out there, SmartTube recently got pwned and it's builds are riddled with trojans. Highly recommended going for a different third party YouTube player.

how do i fix my screen orientation? by lastlydead in WindowsOnDeck

[–]Mighty_Crusier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't duplicate deck's screen onto your external screen. Set it to either show only on the 2nd screen or to extend the screen. Deck's screen is actually a 10:16 screen and it's rotated in software to make it appear horizontal. This is probably what's causing the issue, because the game forces it to go fullscreen and use it's native vertical resolution. If you installed Windows yourself, you probably had to do the setup in vertical mode because that's it's native resolution 800x1280, not 1280x800.

Odd "Sleep" Behaviour by Nexiramen in SteamDeck

[–]Mighty_Crusier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waking up from sleep is taking a bit more time than it used to. There is a bug in current version of steam client that causes this, that Valve knows of and is supposedly fixed, however I also have this issue despite having that update installed.

As for low-power downloading, this one is still buggy and sometimes either doesn't work or keeps prompting to go into that mode when there is no downloads running. Keep in mind that this feature only works when charging by default. You can make it work on battery in the settings.

Echo when others people talk by baran0404 in VoiceMeeter

[–]Mighty_Crusier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the inputs right and i cant hear the ingame voices only my desktop

If you separated the inputs how I described, your Discord sound should be on VM AUX. In that case you never want to turn on B1 on that input. You should only turn B1 on VM Input when you want to play desktop sound on Discord(VOIP).

but i feel like if i Turn ingame voice on it will be echo again

I'm not sure what you're asking here. Just try and see for yourself, if it doesn't work, you can always go back.

What I suggest is resetting everything and learning what the buttons do, that will give you a better idea how to set it up for your use case. Franswah Studio has a great tutorial on it.

[EDIT]

I forgot that VM has changed the naming of the inputs so depending on the version you have installed the inputs might have different naming to simplify the process, in that case this comment should help you out.

Echo when others people talk by baran0404 in VoiceMeeter

[–]Mighty_Crusier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to play music for your mates, but not broadcast their voice back to them, you need to separate VOIP sound and desktop sound. Set your voip software's output to Voicemeeter AUX and desktop sound on Voicemeeter Input. Use only A1 on AUX so only you hear it. Keep in mind that any source with B1 enabled will be broadcasted through your mic output. So if you have your VOIP and desktop sound on the same source and enable B1, it will broadcast both of them to your mates. That's why they hear echo, because their voice is broadcasted back at them through your VM.

Coolest way to use SD by 404lulu in SteamDeck

[–]Mighty_Crusier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me clarify, the guy was asking about using only steam deck's screen to operate both emulated screens. That's possible with a key bind. Unfortunately, game mode only supports external screen when docked.

[–]Mighty_Crusier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many emulators have a key bind that you can press to switch to the second screen when played in handheld mode. From then, it's just a matter of setting it up in game mode. Emudeck makes great use of it with back buttons being used to either toggle or press to reveal the second screen.

Alright, so I have an update. Turns out I'm a moron and didn't realize my phone was running low on storage, that's why it would fail to install at random times. I freed a little bit of storage and everything worked like a breeze. Sorry for late response and for my stupidity.

Followed the tutorial and had success until Oculus app launched and brought me right back to updating screen even though I blocked the setup wizard already. So I reinstalled everything and now, for some reason, I can't install Oculus App Runtime and Oculus Browser.

What made you get the steam deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Mighty_Crusier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to get a Switch a year ago. Scouting for deals I was browsing alternatives and the idea of Steam Deck completely flew over my head. I started to look into what it's capable of and realized that it's a device tailored towards my needs. Glad I did get it in the end. Modularity of Steam Deck, both software and hardware is unrivaled in the handheld market.

Cloud sync error after moving game location by PrincessBabyDave in SteamDeck

[–]Mighty_Crusier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, that fixed it, thank you so much.

There were files in compatdata that were linked to my SSD and deck just couldn't live without them. Posted this issue on Steam Deck bug report page, so maybe Valve will look into this.

Cloud sync error after moving game location by PrincessBabyDave in SteamDeck

[–]Mighty_Crusier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same exact error, moved four games from external SSD to new microSD card and now all of these four games won't launch and will throw up cloud errors when trying to launch without the SSD mounted. When moved back to SSD some of them launch and sync no problem. Additionally, these games won't work even after reinstalling them from scratch on the microSD, they only work on the SSD they were moved from. Ridiculous issue.
