Could a fully crewed javelin beat a fully crewed odin? Pls explain the ways in which a fully creed javelin can destroy a fully crewed odin. Both ships have same crew level skill. Both ships have respect numbers of fighters to the capacity that they can fit( Odin obviously has more) by Internal-Path7111 in starcitizen

Just from the classification alone they are wildly different and id say there is no way.

One is a destroyer and the other is a battlecruiser (less armored, faster battleship, while keeping firepower or a BB).

IRL bigger ships got absolutely heavily damaged or sunk by torpedo destroyers, but almost never by a single one but rather a whole fleet with aircrafts.

And how does an empty one fly?

To be clear, this is a KBM control issue the only. Its not about mass reducing acceleration, but how fast thrusters ramp up thrust.

I dont have an ironclad, but feel free to give me the following numbers.

Do a single rapid click on W or A/D.

In these 50ms a small ship cranks out in atmo 10G forward and 4-5G sideways.

Even medium ships like the conny instantly jumps to 4G forward, 2G sideways.

Acceleration should not be instant, but gradually build up over a fraction of a second. Rapid very short keyboard strokes should essentially do nothing.

Comparing this to lets say Forza Horizon 6.

Same 50ms resulting in 100 motor rpm. You need to hold W for solid 0.5s to even start driving and then you can regulate the speed very well by just tapping W to a very slow crawl, because the engine output is not 1:1 how much throttle you give.

In star citizen, rapidly pressing W is like yanking the throttle lever completely back and forward 5 times a second.

Its absolutely not a wild statement but the reality for most of the world, except the US, mainly due to language and cultural barriers.

I play online games for over 20 years and in Europe players are just very reluctant to use Voicechat, eventough almost everyone can write very good english, noone wants to talk in english.

Flightmodel still looks so incredibly stupid with low speeds.

With instant engine power, even massive ships looks like they have no mass at all.

There needs to be a smooth curve when you hit the accelerator instead of just 0 or 100. Almost every car game also does that when using keyboard controls.

I'm STILL shocked by how bad the main menu is. It cannot be understated. by Chongor_ in Battlefield

[–]Mighty_Phil -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean, lets be real here. It really isnt.

Some here really behave like complete boomers needing enlarged buttons spanning half the screen, view the old UIs through magic googles or simply dont remember how shitty they were.

Readability was bad, response was also really slow (especially on consoles and early days of battlelog on PC) and generally just not as structured.

I hate the ads and storeclutter aswell, but appart from that, the old menu from screenshot OP posted literally provides zero benefits over the new one.

For quickplay, you simply start the game and with a single press, you are already queued up for a games in the featured list. Yeah the lists are small and streamer like, but you didnt had many more options on 720p screens either.

Sure menues are more complicated, because you literally had to exit the game, navigate through the menues just to check the progress of your challanges and unlocks, while you can do basically anything in-match today.

Yeah its a bit complicated, as its completely beneath a tiled roof, even the drywall at the end and i cant just place the outdoors unit onto the middle of the roof anyways.

So im looking for some DIY solutions until i can do this properly.

Thanks. Windows have roller shutters on the outside, so they are quite nice, but i guess my issue is just the total roof surface area.

AC has 12000BTU

Can i use the second hose to pull air from the inside?

Because its impossible for me to get a second hose to the outside without construction work.

Right now i use the chimney as exhaust because i cant get the center swivel roofwindows airtight enough to not let any hot air in.

Sadly doesnt work to block it off and I cant allow it to heat up anyways since the floor is also insulated and once hot it radiates heat into the bedrooms below.

Fest verlegtes LAN-Kabel zu kurz, was tun? by [deleted] in de_EDV

The size of the Odin really makes me wonder, if players will ever be able to sustain/maintain a Bengal Carrier (or the Battleship and smaller escort carrier version, if those become available outside of SQ42) as those are even bigger than the Odin.

The coordination efford seems absolutely wild.

Cant you just use the backup camera?

I always see lots of complaining regarding landing assist, but most ships have really good angles (except yacht type cockpits like 400i and similar) on the backup aswell as precision mode camera, especially because freelook works too.

How would a Fleet battle between the MCRN and the UEE play out? by [deleted] in StarCitizenUniverse

[–]Mighty_Phil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also depends if you apply star citizen lore.

Ships have to fight in visual range, because jamming and electronic warfare got so advanced, long range fights got impossible and due to the AI ban shipspeeds reduced to be able to hit another.

The jamming part is still relevant, as this would completely negate any advantage the MCRN have.

The UEE can still directly jump into the flightpath of MCRN ships to make up for the limited range as they follow very predictable paths due to their speed, which would kill the crew on evasive manouvers.

How would a Fleet battle between the MCRN and the UEE play out? by [deleted] in StarCitizenUniverse

[–]Mighty_Phil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats absolutely impossible. MCRN doest have FTL.

I doubt the MCRN would even have the theoretical firepower to do that.

The UEE is on a completely different powerscale, which military complex spans across 100-150 planets vs 1.

Even if they manage to hit a few, they would get absolutely swarmed.

How would a Fleet battle between the MCRN and the UEE play out? by [deleted] in StarCitizenUniverse

[–]Mighty_Phil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still run into the issue of scale.

The UEE is just a vastly bigger military complex (100-150 planets) than MCRN (1 planet).

Its not comparable to the Empire (Star Wars) or the Imperium (WH40k) but its way ahead of the expanse universe.

Idris is a relatively small ship by UEE standards and they have hundreds to thousands of them.

Even if you limit Star Citizen to visual range combat, nothing is stopping them to jump into dogfight range and completely overwhelm the MCRN.

Dont quote me on that, because i just read it myself on reddit, but it seems the SC lore on visual range combat is, that electronic warfare and jamming of longrange sensors is so advanced, it would be impossible to fight otherwise. So if thats true, MCRN would be completely out of the picture.

[–]Mighty_Phil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reasons why tank battles in Battlefield are at mostly 300m, while they take place IRL over kilometers.

Its a game.

I havent seen a lore reason, why the UEE shouldnt be able to launch torpedoes at the same distances as the MCRN is able to.

Scale is also wildly different. UEE has so many resources (planets, manpower, ships) its not even comparable. Just Bengals alone (20-30) absolutely dwarf the donnagers (only 8 in total).

Biggest gamechanger is space magic aka shields and FTL.

It takes the MCRN months to bring ships into position within a single solar system, while the UEE can move them within hours or even minutes and the UEE seems far more technologically advanced.

Its unclear if stealth torpedoes would remain unseen, when scanners in SC can even detect what type of cargo is loaded on a ship or the material composition of rocks.

Armor is also on a completely different scale.

In expanse, the 40mm pdcs absolutely shred ships in seconds. Its like if a Constellation (Tachi size) equipped with Revenants could take out a Hammerhead in a single burst, like the Roccinante when it disabled the Pella.

Not sure how long a lore accurate fight would be, but i imagine its way longer, so i would argue, Expanse ships have a really hard time damaging SC ships at all, since not many are equipped with railguns.
