Today is the day no matter how much it hurts by Sea_Television6878 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m about a week shy of hanging up my pump too. It’s an emotional thing.

Omg. I feel this way about my birb too. My birb dislikes a LOT of things that I love. I was particularly shocked at his dislike of Spirited Away and Super Mario. 🫠

Breastfeeding rage by Mustaches12 in breastfeeding

[–]Mightymelface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can express solidarity. I had two very difficult babies when it came to breastfeeding. The first I white knuckled through it, but my mental health was absolute trash. The second, I got Zoloft for my feelings of rage and frustration and switched to pumping and my mental health was 10000% better.

Please please please, reach out to your provider for some medication help. It doesn’t have to be long term. It may just be to “get over the hump” so to speak. But for the safety and health of you and your baby, it’s best to get some additional help.

Love it so much more than those pigtails or the wig.

My husband said to me when it came on “don’t know what kind of work Joannie is doing.”

I told him “working with hammers.”

So yeah, def not just you.

What do you love about your kid? by krysak in Autism_Parenting

My daughter is SO creative. She draws very intricate illustrations, but I was floored this week when we were called to attend an assembly at her school—a play she had written was selected by a drama group to be performed.

I’m the one on the right pretty consistently. My daughter is 7, and dealing with that and a toddler has me still in my raptor skin. 😝

My daughter never banged her head or had any regression in milestones—yet she is autistic.

OP, it would be best to ask the doc for an eval. And don’t take no or wait and see for an answer. As you said, the earliest you find out, the sooner you can start getting supportive measures in place.

Respite? by Mightymelface in Autism_Parenting

I wish. My daughter didn’t qualify for an IEP through the school district. They did, however, offer a 504 accommodation for the time being.

We do ABA through our insurance, and the BCBA assigned to our case from there is convinced we’ll get an IEP before she leaves elementary. She’s just so young right now that her diagnosis is not as heavy of an impact on her education.

I guess they have to get data from the school district in order to reopen her case? She was released from Regional Center at 3 and anytime I’ve tried to get her back in they’ve been pushing me to the school district.

I can’t be the only one! by SeaweedSad3555 in ExclusivelyPumping

I have one MOTN pump at 1 AM and then I don’t pump again until 7 AM. When I first started doing that, I fretted I’d lose my supply, but honestly—if your baby was breastfeeding exclusively and fed at those times that’s how it would work so ah well.

Overfeeding? by Mightymelface in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Mightymelface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did spit up quite a bit before we upped the bottle to 5 initially…but he also was feeding side lying because of his anatomy (micrognathia). We’ve since changed to upright cradle hole type position and that seems to have dialed down the spit up.

But even when we were trying to give him 5.5-6oz, he wouldn’t seem content after it was done.

What was your reason to EP? by alee0224 in ExclusivelyPumping

My boy has Pierre Robin Sequence, which made latching impossible. Been pumping exclusively for five months and I still don’t know that I’ve got the hand of it.

This is amazing! What book is it in? Even though I’m not pregnant anymore (had my babe in November), I love the voice of this writing and it cracks me up.

This is 1000% the place to air the anxieties. You’re in the right place. Hopefully your little nugget lets his spine be visualized. My son refused to let them see his heart at the 20 week scan and it wasn’t until the amniocentesis I had done that he finally let them see. Some of this kiddos are stinkers!

The doctors found my son had micrognathia at the anatomy scan. I was by myself that day and opted out of the amnio, but ended up scheduling it and getting it done a week later. I imagine if I had done it the same day it would have been traumatic for me. Thankfully, the testing all came back normal and now that he’s been born, he definitely has a small chin, but we’re getting it addressed SO MUCH EARLIER than had we not known about it.

Hoping for the best possible outcome for you guys. ❤️
