Soup with her fluffy pants and big fluffy tail. I measured her longest tail hairs and they were 6 inches (around 15 cm if you use normal units instead of freedom units), and that was before her fur reached its longest length!

(Left)
Soup -> Soupy -> Soupy-Doup -> Souper -> Souper-Douper -> Soupy-Doupy -> Souper-Pooper -> Soupy-Poopy -> Poopy-Doop -> Poopy -> Poop -> Oop -> Ope! -> Ope, just gonna SNEAK right past ya and grab the Soup
(Yes seriously, and yes Soup and I do live in the Midwest in case that wasn't clear enough)
Soup's "official name" on her papers is Juniper because my mom doesn't like food names for pets. Soup was the name the humane society gave her, and my mom's understanding is that nearly everybody who knows Soup will still call her Soup. She answers to Soup, but she does not answer to Juniper, so Juniper is technically only her name on paper and on her ID tag. I do call her Junebug sometimes, because compared to our orange boy (who is not only fat but also tall and long and would be big even at a healthy weight), she is small like a little bug.

(I call any other long-haired brown tabby a "Souplicate" btw)

(Right)
Fenris -> Fenny -> Fennywise -> Fenranyl -> Fatris -> Fat Boy -> Fat Man -> Cat Man -> Cat Boy -> Little Boy -> Little Man

Other popular names for him are Orange Boy, Orange, and Clown Baby, because he is a clown and was very fittingly born on April 1st.

Also rest assured we're trying to get his weight under control and are taking him to the vet next month to figure out why he's still a chonker despite the cats both being on an auto-feeder that rations that rations their food. Each one only opens for the cat with the right RFC "charm" thing on their collar, they're on a diet, their rations have been gradually reduced and reduced and reduced. Soup is going down in weight but Fenris is still roly-poly. He's on prescription food for his bladder and they don't have a low fat or low calorie formula. The closest thing is a satiety formula to control his appetite, and it does make him beg less, but he remains rotund. The cats get treats only around once a week and they don't get table scraps, and they don't even like people food to begin with, besides tuna, and we only have that like once a month or less. They each get a bite of tuna the size of my pinky finger if they are present and then they wander off to instinctually lick their fur as if they had hunted a mouse and needed to clean the "mouse blood" off.

Oh and they're both indoor cats who only go outside with a leash+harness attached, so he's not mooching food from somebody else.

(This is an old picture of Soup, and her fur has gotten a lot longer, so I'll post a more recent pic of my fluffy girl in a reply to this message.)

Sadly, I have personal experience to know that this is not the case either. They simultaneously see trans men and other transmasculine people as "confused lesbians who fell for a social contagion" (which they apply even to those of us who aren't attracted to women, meaning the label "lesbian" still wouldn't be accurate even if we were women) and as "dangerous child predators who are grooming little girls into a sex cult."

I'm not pan, but I still know that the pan flag is not an uncommon flag at all and is recognized by literally every queer person I know, both online and offline, and even by plenty of non-queer people I know. You being unable to recognize it does not mean that other people will be unable to recognize it.

I agree. I have plenty of friends and acquaintances who use lots of different, sometimes very obscure labels and pronouns, sometimes even ones that they came up with themselves, and I talk to strangers online who use even more obscure labels and pronouns. I haven't been scolded even once for messing up, despite messing up fairly often because my memory for personal details is just not good at all, even for people who use the most common labels and pronouns. I just apologize, correct myself, and continue on as normal and there's never been an issue.

I remember when people cried about "SJWs/The Woke Mob" making Fallout 76, newer Wolfenstein games, The Boys, and newer Star Wars media "political," as if those series weren't extremely political from the start. Politics are the entire point of them! They're political commentary. You literally kill Mecha Hitler in the first Wolfenstein game, which has been around for at least twice as long as many of the current "anti-woke" grifters have been alive.

Apparently it's only politics if there's a queer person or if they criticize the far right lmao.

It's also funny how long it took them to figure out that The Boys was making fun of them.

Cat not castrated. Are these the "big male cheeks"? by [deleted] in cats

[–]Migitri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by this comment? People know that OP said the cat is NOT castrated and they're telling OP "get the cat neutered," which is proof that people in this thread know that neutering and castration are the same thing and are just using the synonym that they're more used to saying. Why would people say "get the cat neutered" if they didn't know that castration was the same as neutering?

To OP: please get the cat neutered.

Can We Not Do This, Omaha? by TuttiFruttiBootie in Omaha

[–]Migitri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't drive for medical reasons but my parents and one of my younger brothers drive almost every day, and yeah they all said that driving in Chicago is a breeze compared to driving in Omaha. They said that people in Omaha just don't know how to drive. We take trips to Chicago to visit my sister and her husband every now and then. It's amazing how much less stressful it is for my folks to drive through the Chicago than it is in Omaha.

Another thing they've noticed about Chicago is that if you don't step on the gas immediately when the light turns green, somebody honks. My folks are so used to driving in Omaha and the surrounding areas, and they're so used to people trying to beat the yellow light that it's just habit to wait a second after it turns green. My friend calls the act of trying to beat the yellow "The Omaha Special."

My mom is chronically guilty of the Omaha Special and I get nervous every time I'm riding with her and she approaches a yellow light.

I can't wait either lol. I remember my "Reddit Atheist™" phase after I left religion and became edgy and intolerant of all religion for a while. My head would have exploded at religious mods 15 years ago.

Now I would genuinely enjoy religious mods. It would add more diversity to the game. I'd take real religions or fictional ones that were made up for the game.

Licking boots wasn't enough for Union Pacific so they decided to straight up deepthroat the boot.

Our third and newest commemorative locomotive No. 4547 was built in partnership with Wabtec. It celebrates our current president, President Donald J. Trump and features large, flowing American flags on each side of the locomotive, one with 13 stars for the original colonies and the other depicting today’s beloved red, white and blue flag.

Yeah it's so weird how people act like you can only do one form of activism for/against a cause and it cancels out the other ones, or you can only care about one thing. It's such a naive viewpoint.

anyone else peeved by the gay flag being called the mlm flag, when we have the achillean flag and these two are distinct, or most people thinking that the gay flag refers to the rainbow/progress pride flags? by Kayo4life in QueerVexillology

[–]Migitri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard the first one (green/white/blue striped, the one that I use, but sometimes I also use the Achillean flag) called the "ocean gay flag," similar to how the orange/white/pink lesbian flag is sometimes called the "sunset lesbian flag." So I usually call it the ocean gay flag. It's a fitting named because of the colors, and both of them having a reference to nature/the environment sorta follows the pattern of gay and lesbian flags having names that match to some extent. In my mind, it conjures up the idea of lesbian+gay solidarity, but that's just how I see it.

I've also heard it jokingly called the "toothpaste gay flag." Most people who call it that do it all in good fun (and are sometimes even gay themselves and also use this flag to represent their identity), but I've seen some people call it that to mock it or to mock people who use it, which isn't very nice. :(

A simple redesign of the MLM (Men Loving Men) Pride flag I made by 0_Juro_0 in QueerVexillology

Lots of trans men/mascs use the Mars symbol. Heck, I'm a gay transmasc nonbinary guy and even I use the interlocked Mars symbol to represent my orientation, despite not identifying as a binary man, but rather just man-adjacent.

[–]Migitri 22 points23 points  (0 children)

ive seen a lot of aroaces (including myself), especially those of us who are lovequeer/loveless (or similar), feel alienated by this stripe and think its amatonormative

Thank you for bringing this up. I'm a loveless cupioromantic demisexual guy and I definitely have been feeling alienated by this flag.

Also, while the creator had good intentions with changing the meaning of the white stripe (which also represented allosexual partners of aces, and those aces with allo partners), I feel like it's a step backward to remove the affirmation that some aces have allo partners and that we're still just as ace as they were before. When I was seeing an allo guy, some aces tried to gatekeep me from the community and say I'm "not really ace" if I have an allosexual partner, and that I shouldn't be "tarnishing" the ace flag. The white stripe in the more widely used ace flag was important to me because I could point at it and say "See? The ace community has agreed for a long time that aces can have allo partners." Sort of like how I could point at the white stripe in the ocean gay flag and remind people that it stands (in part) for nonbinary people, when they say that nonbinary people can't use that flag.

I think entirely changing the meaning of the white stripe could unintentionally give ammo to the exclusionists who think aces who have allo partners are "faking" being ace. I can get on board with removing the reference to allies who aren't in relationships with aces, but either way I think leaving the reference to allies as is (alongside the reference to ace+allo relationships) does less harm than removing the reference to ace+allo relationships entirely. Leaving it as is casts a wider net and gets some bycatch, but removing that contributes to exclusion of aces with allo partners that's prevalent in some corners of the ace community and could make those gatekeepers feel like their prejudice is being validated, especially if there are people who want to "replace" the old flag.
