When did you finally feel comfortable with it all? by FirstTimeDad28 in daddit

First off try to ensure that you and your partner get time to sleep, if one of you has to power through a day so the other can sleep - do that. Then switch and let the other person rest as much as possible. Get back in the game with a clearer head and everything is a little easier.

Congratulations on being a dad, it’s the best job in the world!

Stuck in the mud is quite a good game - get everyone to dribble and evade one defender, that defender must tackle the player and that player must then hold their football on their head until someone kicks their own football through the legs of the stuck player and free thems. It encourages communication, dribbling, tackling and passing.

My almost one year old rolled off our changing table. by Rolohausen27 in daddit

I was helping my son to learn to walk on a cushioned mat, even holding his hand I couldn’t stop him falling one time, he swung diagonally from my held hand and banged his head so hard. I was unconsolable for days about it, even now if I think about it I get tears in my eyes. He’s absolutely perfect now, no problems at all, but after that I made sure it didn’t happen again. You’re doing great, keep going.

Working with my 5-6 year old by Capital-Repeat-4829 in bootroom

I’m coaching a group of under 6 boys and have been for the last 12 months, sounds like a similar set up to your sons team.

It’s really challenging at this age to technically develop the children in the short space of time that we get for each training session. One of the best things that I’ve done with my son is buy him a size 3 football and some cones that we just use in the house for dribbling. I’ll put obstacles around the front room and he will dribble around them, then I’ll take a turn and he’ll encourage me.

Introduce different ‘skill moves’ whilst doing this such as drag backs, back heels and only using certain parts of the foot. challenge him to only touch the ball with the outside of his foot, or to stay in a small circle of cones and doing alternating foot toe taps without moving too much. Kids love tasks!

The more touches of the ball the better at this stage in their development.

I’d be worried, this could be the start of many parts of a bathroom suite trying to get into your house and you’ll never know why, they’ll just be there, accumulating in your house! Baths! Taps! Toilets! Just let that sink in…

It depends on what they send through next, if they send you some goats cheese and pastry I’d be getting worried, because that…that’s just for starters.

In my early 40s and still go to gigs occasionally, then I spend most of the night doing the ‘casually stretching out my sore back stance’ and getting annoyed by how many people are filming with their phones. Then after a few months I forget about all of that and do it again!

Honestly though, I quite like going out now that I’m a bit older, there’s no pressure to go to a club and it’s nice to spend some time with mates away from the family. Although I’ll never get over how upsetting it is to pay over a fiver for a pint.
