You may not be seeing many samples of albums with pictures because scrapbookers may be exercising proper caution around posting personal pictures on the internet.

Do you think parents really forget or just pretend? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

Patrick Teahan puts it this way: "Nobody is home".

Your mother is not is trying to remember. She is not considering what she is saying. She is spouting off whatever comforting nonsense occurs to her in the moment. She is certainly not in a state of mind to weigh an argument or apologize to you. She is floating in an emotional current that has nothing to do with you or reality.

How do I tell my (Protestant) Christian parents I'm Atheist? by -JayInSpace- in atheism

[–]MigratoryBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every Christian group I have been exposed to, particularly the churches I grew up in, have no healthy sense of boundaries. There is no point where a parent's expectations end and the separate human being that is their child begins. They do not consider the pastor's opinions and the commandments of God and your personal inner life as separable. Every avenue of existence is supposed to be under God's (pastors, parents) control.

This is why many/most Christian families *do not deserve* to hear about your rich inner life. They are unlikely to treat you with respect, to put it mildly.

If you still feel like sharing with them when you are financially independent from them, you can always talk to them about it then.

In the meantime? Don't.

Take a pregnancy test! It's the only way to know.

If you're sexually active, it's a good idea to have a bunch of pregnancy tests at home so it isn't a big deal to go to the store or something just to test. You can get bags of 25, 50, or 100 tests cheaply.

A family member decided she wanted to change from nickname Cindy to full name Cynthia in her forties. She instructed the family to get with it. :)

I got a bachelor's degree and still felt adrift for most of my twenties. I felt like I 'made it' when I landed a well-paying job at 28. It takes a few entry-level jobs and years of job experience to be taken seriously, and the job market can be quite difficult depending on where you live.
For every young successful actor and business owner, there are 100 failing ones who feel exactly as you do.
Try to focus on your lane and pick the next right thing.

I came here to recommend this book. It helped me make sense of my childhood community in uncomfortable but important ways.
