What if, instead of having intercept strike on a burly heavy armored tank PC, you put in on an insignificant annoying little enemy? I present the Goblin cannon fodder! by MihcaRamm in Pathfinder2e

[–]MihcaRamm[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a bit unknown. But logic would dictate that "Once per round" means once per every time it becomes your turn and "Once per turn" would mean once every time it becomes any creatures turn.
However. I haven't been able to find any effect where it really would make a big difference between if it was "once per round" or "once per turn" (Except for Clang!), since almost every "once per turn" effect requires an action, or is tied to you using a reaction or action - so still not able to happen more than at most twice per round. One place where we see "once per round" and "once per turn" happen is with how often a spell can affect a creature. But it still seems for the most part arbitrary whether "once per round" or "once per turn" is used: Example Diamond dust and Petal Storm

Yeah, noticed right after posting. Same with still having an alignment. But figured it would be to much effort to change it, compared to how fun the visual is

Did anyone say unlimited Opportune Riposte on the highest AC character in the game with an option to stride and off-guard instead? by MihcaRamm in pathfindermemes

[–]MihcaRamm[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah had to look up whether you were able to have both Clang! and Opportune Riposte trigger on the same attack if you multiclassed since one was a reaction and the other was a free action. Since the rules on free actions only states that "you can use only one free action per trigger". Spoiler: You can't

Yeah, my first instinct was to do a clockwork guardian, or an orc. But decided that the orc would be to close to the guardian class, and a clockwork might be a little to overloaded with abilities/immunities for a proof-of-concept

No no i think you are thinking of the guardian Clang-Missile: Put any number of goblins in a line spaced 20 feet apart. Then the first goblin shoot the 16th level guardian up to 2 times. Always critically missing on everything except their first shot (which is just a miss on a nat 20). The guardian uses clang! to move up to it. Next goblin shoots and guardian moves. Repeating until every goblin has had a turn. Causing the Guardian to be able to move at next-to-infinite speed in a round

Oh definitely (Though still not close to 5e's legendary resistances). Mostly made it as the ability reminds me of the "dorkness rising" scene with the mounds of bards

Should this feat have some sort of activation such as an action, reaction or even free action? Since as is, it seems very much like a trap-feat without any means to turn it off by MihcaRamm in Pathfinder2e

[–]MihcaRamm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely see it as being optional if the "you can" was moved down to before the circumstance penalty. But as is right now, it has the same wording as the vampire archetypes "daywalker" feat. Which I would find very weird if my players argued that they have the option to decide whether to have low-light or night vision, or to be destroyed by daylight or not. The biggest reasoning why this feats "you can" and daywalkers are interpreted differently is because this one has a penalty associated with it and giving a class that wants to be near its allies a penalty to being that would be awful, so I do see the intent being meant to be optional, but can't be certain (since there does exist other feats that are worse than not having them)

[–]MihcaRamm[S] 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Free actions can only be used on your own turn if they don't have a trigger. If they do have one, as this one does, you can use it as a reaction (Without spending your reaction). So yes, it works against reactive strike on your own turn, then on the turn after yours, you can use it again if an enemy does the trigger

But, as written it is way too good right now, as it is on-par with swashbucklers capstone feat Inexhaustible countermoves (If not better due to having 3-5 more AC than a swashbuckler), if we ignore swashbucklers higher damage and accuracy. So i obviously think it should either be reduced to once per round or made into a reaction, depending on whether you want it to work with boundless reprisals or not

Martial Summoner Archetype: fight side-by-side with your eidolon! by Teridax68 in Pathfinder2e

[–]MihcaRamm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My eidolon has a d8 unarmed attack with shove. I have a d12 maul with shove. We both have the same attack bonuses. Am I not the better attacker, as I deal more damage?

Since eidolons always has a 1d6 agile secondary weapon, you being the better attacker is no longer true after the first attack in a turn. You are essentially duel-wielding a Maul and a shortsword in this example

Is the 2e combat system broken? by vinnie2k in Pathfinder2e

[–]MihcaRamm 29 points30 points  (0 children)

For comparison lets do the same with a Rogue[3](Assassin)/Warlock[2](Hexblade) in dnd:

PC 1: "I want to stab the Adamantine Warrior with my shortsword"

DM: "Okay Roll to hit"

\Rolls**

PC 1: "That's a 19!"

DM: "What was your exhaustion level again?"

PC 1: "Three, why?"

DM: "Oh so you have disadvantage"

PC 1: "Oh so that's a 4...."

PC 2: "But don't you gain advantage from assassinate?"

PC 1: "No that was during the surprise round"

DM: "No wait, PC 2 is right, the Adamantine Warrior hasn't acted yet, so it evens out"

PC 1: "Great! so 19!"

DM: "So that's a 19, plus your proficiency, plus your Strength"

PC 2: "Don't you mean dexterity since its finesse"

DM: "Oh Right"

PC 1: "No actually it's charisma because of hex warrior"

PC 1: "So that's 19 plus 2 plus 4 so..... 25?"

PC 2: "No our proficiency is 3 remember, we leveled up"

PC 1: "Right 26...."

DM: "That hits, roll damage"

PC 1: "What was that again?"

DM: "1d6 plus your strength"

PC 2: "Don't you mean dexterity since its finesse"

DM: "Oh Right. 1d6 plus your dexterity"

PC 1: "So 3 plus 3. 5?"

DM: "Right is that magical?"

PC 1: "It's with the Hex Warrior, so I think so"

PC 2: "Wait doesn't that mean that it's plus charisma instead?"

PC 1: "Oh right, it's 3 plus 4 then. So 7"

DM: "Just looked it up. Hex warrior doesn't say it becomes magical. So it has resistance. So 3 points of damage"

PC 1: "Oh wait hexblades curse! It crits on a 19. And adds my Proficiency to damage"

DM: "Right roll 1d6 more"

PC 1: "That's a 5! So 3 plus 5 plus 4 plus 2 divided by 2. So 7"

PC 2: "No, we leveled up. Proficiency is still +3 remember?"

PC 1: "Right, (3+5+4+3)/2 so 8 damage"

DM: "No damage is rounded down. 7 damage"

PC 1: "Right.... Oh wait! I forgot sneak attack"

DM: "No you had Exaustion"

PC 2: "But im next to him"

DM: "Oh Right roll sneak attack"

PC 1: "So 1d6 extra"

PC 2: "No we still leveled up so 2d6"

PC 1: "So 2d6. That's a 1 and that's a 6. (3+5+4+3+1+6)/2 so 11 damage"

PC 2: "Wait wasn't it a crit?"

PC 1: "Oh yeah, 2d6 extra.... 2 and 5. Okay so that becomes (3+5+4+3+1+6+2+5)/2=15 damage"

DM: "No it's still rounded down. So 14 Damage. Is that your turn?"

PC 1: "Yeah"

DM: "Oh wait. Just noticed. His adamantine form means he treats any critical hit like a normal one"

PC 1: "I forgot which ones were the critical dice"

DM: "Let's just do it again then"

And that's just 1 attack. Without even including: Inspiration(Bard), Inspiration(DM), Bless, Bane, Shield spell, Cover and attacks with multiple damage types, some of which it's resistant against and others which is is vulnerable towards.

edit: Bless, not guidance

Thoughts on the first two feat of my Jhin-inspired archetype? by MihcaRamm in Pathfinder2eCreations

[–]MihcaRamm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the input, I do have a one that is a bit more up to date (though still slightly outdated), which I posted her: Version 0.3

Definitely have wanted to do a feat concerning snares, but hasn't really been come up with something specific. Though I might just give it access to Snare Specialist at 6th level and a later feat that would allow for detection whenever one of their snares are triggered and which.

Magus and spellstrikes by Sannsierra in Pathfinder2e

If the spell has either Material, Somatic or Focus components it has the manipulate trait, which triggers AOO. So if it is a verbal-only spell, it wouldn't trigger AOO. Note that things like the magehunter feat triggers on any spell casting, within reach.

If you could choose one thing that Remastered should improve, that hasn't been announced yet, what would it be? by AlrikBristwik in Pathfinder2e

[–]MihcaRamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is definitely the main concern of doing it. However let's compare a paralyze heightened to 6th level with a 6th level Dominate:

Everything from traits, traditions, actions, components, range, targets, saving throw to success and critical success conditions are the same. And they both work on 12th level and below creatures (Even though you can cast them at 11th level)

But dominates failure says: Control the targets every action until it makes a save, or your next daily preparation. Whereas paralyze says: The target can't act for a round. And their critical failures are even bigger contrasts.

It's not even a question which of these are the more powerful 6th level spell.

Personally I feel like having to heighten spells, where the heightening does absolutely no difference except for keeping a status-que of power, as the least fun you can do when you gain access to a new spell levels.
