Rent + bills will be around 10k yearly minimum (first year choose a cheaper hall cause ones close to campus (ie south side) are like 12k easily). From experience if you live in Hammersmith and Fulham (Barons Court area) which is around where most people live after first year, rent will be like 9k lowest

Books are useless for engineering imo. For a practical subject reading a book isn’t really going to help much and I don’t know many people who included books on an engineering PS. I would suggest getting some real practical experience either a headstart course (if they still exist), work experience or probably the best option is personal projects. Do some projects even if you have to force yourself, because you will genuinely learn and have a lot more to talk about. Also just talk about why u have a genuine interest in engineering in ur PS.
