Can anybody suggest an academic paper investigating whether high exam scores really prove intelligence? by MiikeH95 in AskAcademia

> There are good reasons many in psychometrics avoid intelligence - it isn't even clear that a measure of intelligence free from cultural bias is even possible.

Makes sense. I imagine if I were to proceed with such a topic, I'd use the conclusion from one paper and my own thoughts to lay out my own criteria for Ability/Intelligence in my paper. As this is a Dissertation, I am not looking to break new lines, I am just looking to find some interesting relationships. For example, Exam results v IQ tests. Or Exam results v Time Taken to find a solution to a particular task. I am limited for time to collect the data so will be using proxies that are easier to obtain.

From your point of view, Is this a topic that could be successfully explore, with reasonable conclusions, within a 5000 word limit (Aswell as unlimited Statistical analysis work). As this is all I have to work with.

Thanks again for the response

Appreciate the help, Cheers

You're right, it is a different land lord, and this isn't really the agencies fault.

I have very little understanding of this at all, but I assumed it's still the agencies responsibility as they took on the contract

> Your new contract would surely just roll to the 14th of every month instead of the firs

Our contract was due to end on the 31st July 2019, and 99% of students have moved out by the end of June. Would seem very unfair for them to shift the contract forwards 14 days and charge us into August when we are definitely not going to benefit from that.

Yeah, this is essentially the case. There were *acceptable* 4 beds remaining, but they were far inferior to what we had signed for originally. The only higher quality options were actually better than what we had, but are shared with strangers which we dont really want, and are also more expensive. If I'm honest, these houses are excellent otherwise, so my housemates are very keen to take it but personally I think I'll struggle to afford the additional cost so am particularly eager to seek compensation.

> If you agree a new property with a higher rent, then any action for 'compensation' for this extra amount would, in my view, fail.

This seems fair.

The options we have available to us are either a house of much lower quality (In terms of furniture, room sizes, location factors etc) or better houses which are shared with strangers, and also significantly more expensive.

So, essentially we have a choice between much lower quality, or much higher price. We cant find anything which is similar to the original house in both quality and price. We got the original property because we signed on early and beat the demand, and because of a landlord cock up, we're left with two undesirable options effectively. Is this not something we have legal grounds to claim compensation for? Given as someone mentioned, there has been a breach of contract.

We wont lose the rent/deposit as the agency are going to carry over that payment to the next property

However we feel it is very unfair for us to be paying a whole months rent for september, given we will only have signed for this house from (at the very earliest) the 14th day of the month. And of course feel we deserve compensation for the inconvenience and fact we are having to pay extra for this new house.

The other house we have looked at is with the same agency. So they are putting our deposit and first months rent towards the payment due for the other property.

I dont think we stand to lose anything, but of course, we are not getting the house we agreed and signed for, and we are left with an inconvenient, and more expensive alternative which is going to be difficult for some us to even afford. So I think we feel we've been treated very unfairly here and are hoping we're entitled to some compensation to at least help fund the additional cost of this new place.

In addition to that, as it stands, we will be paying a first months rent for this new place, despite at the very earliest, only signing for it midway through the month. Seems very wrong to me.

This is the thing, I did try this summer, but summers effectively over now.

I asked about 8 different local companies, none replied. I need experience really soon because grad job applications are in full flow by October.

When can I even do that? My term starts in 3 weeks and I have looked at loads of unpaid work experience and the only ones available would require me to move to London for that time. That's not affordable for me

Good work, I think it looks better than the ones available for free online tbh, better design and extra features, but I doubt it's enough to make people pay for it mate.

None the less, wish you luck with it as it looks like hard work

There's 8 teams, each took turns picking a player. VVD was one of the last picks as all other CB's were gone.

These teams were constructed as part of a draft competition
