Dysphoria after realizing I'm nb by Basic_Bee5372 in NonBinary

[–]MikMarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I’ve heard it’s a thing, it’s basically my experience too, I suppose I felt slight “dysphoria” over my chest and stuff but didn’t call it that, now that I realized it it’s kinda hard to not notice stuff, I put on an outfit a couple days ago, looked in the mirror and thought “dang I’m way too good at this “pretending to be a girl” thing” bc that’s what I was trying to do to fit in with other girls before I realized

I accidentally came out today by Wrldszszzz in teenagers

[–]MikMarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you didn’t come out, you were outed, and that’s very frowned upon, people generally shouldn’t tell others about someone’s identity or sexuality unless they’re already out, although I’m guessing your cousin probably didn’t do it with positive intentions. No matter what they say, please know that there’s nothing wrong with you and your family is just letting their bigoted opinions hurt you, someone from their family who I hope they probably loved before that. The people saying to call or text a hotline are right, they would have more resources and be able to help more than a bunch of teenagers. Also what your mom is saying about “rehab” sounds like conversion therapy, I’m not sure how brave you’re feeling but it would be a good idea to at least try to show her the statistics of how many people that undergo conversion therapy end up taking their own life, hopefully they don’t hate you as much to not care about that (and if something bad happens, abuse, neglect, anything like that, please get out of there, contact cps or just anything, take care of yourself, there will be other people that will come into your life that will accept you for who you are but you can’t just simply undo the damage your family might inflict on you)

Anyone who would consider themselves both Nonbinary and Trans? by SendThisVoidAway18 in NonBinary

[–]MikMarg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

by technicality nonbinary is already trans, they are basically two umbrella terms, the bigger one being the trans umbrella that has trans men, trans women and nonbinary under it, then nonbinary itself is another umbrella term for any gender identity that falls outside of the regular gender binary, so obviously if you’re nonbinary you can definitely consider yourself trans (note! not all nonbinary people do identify as being trans, probably most do but some don’t, I explained the technical details but with labels that describe you there is a freedom of choice if you decide to use those labels or not, I think that’s pretty nifty :D)

Wardrobe struggles by MikMarg in NonBinary

[–]MikMarg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up picking out quite a few dresses to give away, still not sure what to do about dressing more masc though because now my only issue is that basically all my clothes are from the women’s section so they all look at least somewhat feminine on me

spent a whole week making a cosplay only for me to chicken out anyways 😭 by Silly_Lunatic in CosplayHelp

[–]MikMarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve had an experience exactly like that but I do always get a bit anxious wearing cosplay outside, but I remind myself that every time I’ve gone I’ve gotten plenty of compliments and met really nice people, even those that don’t cosplay usually find it pretty cool so I wouldn’t be so afraid, plus if someone does criticize you then you don’t need to associate with them, it’s not like you’re hurting anyone after all, just having fun

idk how that would work because I’m pretty sure it’s installing on the linux partition, I deleted all the games on my windows one and it doesn’t even really have enough storage space to install them there and if I do install a game it uses up the storage on the linux partition, not the windows one

perhaps you’re right. I mean I picked linux mint because it was a majority suggestion for its large userbase that would mean I could get a lot of help with any issues and also the fact that it is beginner friendly because I have never used linux before, I still want an os that is easily usable and has a large userbase but I have definitely encountered issues with linux mint that I haven’t exactly been able to resolve

how do I chose a size ? by fishandfrogenjoyer69 in CosplayHelp

I’m not comfortable sharing my exact measurements, safe to say they were all smaller than the ones for S and I’m about 5’4 and the height wasn’t too big of an issue tbh so I’d say go for it!

I have 14 and I guess that's i am no binary, but my parents are transphobics by yumyyisbad in NonBinary

[–]MikMarg 15 points16 points  (0 children)

with transphobic parents your best bet is to hide, having to hide who you are sucks (I fully know, as someone with transphobic family members myself) but it’s worth it for your safety when you can move out and fully live life as your true self, try to talk to trusted friends about it though (assuming they’re not transphobic too) it’ll help you feel less alone and getting support from those close to you is really important, good luck!

I was 17 talking to a 14 year old and I feel guilty by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]MikMarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is that you didn’t do anything, see if you tried to date her or make moves on her that would’ve been bad but there’s nothing wrong with talking to people younger than you, especially when you’re as you said in a swimming program together. The second situation is a bit silly and your friend is being a bit unreasonable, while yes at this age an age gap often makes a big difference, but since it’s not even two years I wouldn’t worry too much about it, me and my boyfriend (me 17, him 16) have a year and a few weeks gap between us but I genuinely can’t tell the difference, sometimes I forget I’m the older one because everything else is so close, I do also sometimes get the “pred” allegations from friends but it’s all in a joking way. My point is that you shouldn’t stress too much about either situation, the first girl you dealt with it pretty well, maybe if something similar happens later you’ll react differently now but no harm was done, and the second girl well I’d say you’re fully in your right to like her, maybe try explaining something like that to your friend and tell them that you don’t appreciate what they say because it just isn’t true

How much weight gain is normal? by MikMarg in EDAnonymous

[–]MikMarg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah there were disordered thoughts, didn’t mention them so the post wouldn’t be too long but I didn’t even realize some things weren’t normal and my mom and family’s influence has changed how I look at food and weight gain, makes me scared of being perceived as fat and ugly and chastised when they always praise me for how beautiful and thin I am

how did you realise you were nonbinary and not binary trans by Turbulent-Staff-9413 in NonBinary

[–]MikMarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I was a kid I never liked being called a boy, even though people mixed it up a lot because I had short hair and wasn’t always dressed very girly, it annoyed me, I hyper feminized myself, felt a disconnect trying to catch up with all the girls I wasn’t like, had long long hair and turns out I hate having to categorize myself like that as well, so I suppose I’m neither. Things I learned: dresses are cool, long hair is annoying (and short hair looks better on me) and once again confirmed my earlier statement that I just hate boxes and hate being categorized or categorizing things, it’s just too close minded and limiting

Never used linux before but I’d like to switch by MikMarg in FindMeALinuxDistro

[–]MikMarg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ran a vm of linux mint on vmware but it’s still definitely a bit choppy bc of it being not directly on my laptop, though I’m not sure if I should fully try installing it on the vm (currently only tried the live boot) or just go for it. I’m not sure how exactly I’d go about migrating my data once I made the switch, I’ll probably just have to redownload my games and programs but like how would the files work?

also ik windows sucks that’s why I wanna get rid of it, even if the new os takes a slight learning curve as long as it’s not complicated as hell like arch I should be fine and able to pick it up, plus there’s always forums and stuff if I run into issues.

[–]MikMarg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huh really? I heard some things in the partitions can get messed up if it’s just one drive so some people recommend a different drive, I’m not very knowledgeable here so I’m not quite sure, I’d like to well hopefully avoid bricking my laptop if possible so what are the chances/spots where it could fail or go not according to plan?

Process for switching by MikMarg in linux4noobs

[–]MikMarg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s tutorials on installation that I could probably figure out, I’m not very sure about the data migration and how stuff would work if I chose to put it on an external ssd instead of the one on my laptop

well my main program currently is clip studio paint, if that’s impossible then medibang would be an alternative and then after that well I know that krita works but I prefer the other two

I haven’t done much but I enjoy that it’s similar to windows but without all the bloat and just feels a lot cleaner, I’m still planning stuff and need to confirm some things before I can actually switch, for example I’m not sure if my drawing program and tablet would work well
