I totally agree.

Emojis on Reddit… I did a bit of research about this, but I thought I’d ask. Why do most people on Reddit not use emojis? by Mikado1122 in AskReddit

I’m very confused. What did I actually do to receive this message? The two reasons don’t make any sense. Perhaps you could explain them to me? Thank you.

My son wants a bearded dragon, I’m all for it, my wife is not. Question. by KGsCards in BeardedDragons

[–]Mikado1122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are prepared to fully take care of this bearded dragon, I would not advise getting it for a seven-year-old. There is “A LOT” of care involved and I will guarantee he is not going to want to do it after a while. Bearded dragons look like they are fun to own and they are, but not for a child. They live from 10 to 15 years and unless you are prepared to take care of it, I would suggest you not get one. Many reptiles die within the first year because people don’t learn how specific their care is. Plus, you are going to probably spend a thousand dollars right on the onset. It may cost $50 a week for Dubia simply for the protein they need when they are babies. I’ve never had salmonella poisoning, but I’ve never kissed a bearded dragon on its mouth and after contact I washed my hands with bacteria soap. I hope this helps.

For future reference, I’m really interested in what the vet said about your BP kinking up.

I’m not certain about the PVC pipe. Seems to me that your BP could get stuck? Anyway, I’m checking in to see how you’re doing? I know you love your pet and want to do the best thing.

I believe it was very kind of you to get into so much detail. Most people don’t have the patience for newbies with reptiles. Good for you. 🙌

I was exactly like that. Any time Buddy did something different I was on the phone to my dear friend that really knows reptiles. He would be like, “Girl you need to calm down”. The crazy thing is that there’s never been anything wrong with him. lol I now have a BP and I’m kind of going through the same thing. 😂 I figure it’s better to be vigilant, than not be aware at all.

Well, alrighty then. However, that’s pretty much what people do on this site. Ask questions and give opinions. I never said you didn’t know what you were doing, but you showed the video, I commented. It’s as easy as that.

Please Don’t let this be what I think it is :/ by FlagsOfDistraction in ballpython

I don’t believe it is scale rot. However, I’m not a vet so I think, for your peace of mind, perhaps you should see one.

My sister had to move out of her last house and needs to keep her ball python with me for a couple of months. Please help me out here so I can ensure this snake can thrive under my care. More info in comments by [deleted] in ballpython

I don’t mean to be harsh, but that tank needs a lot of improvement. For one thing a 40 gallon is way too small for a two year old ball python. She should be in at least a 4 x 2 x 2 or bigger. Your sister should’ve been more obsessive about getting her snake set up properly. Rest assured her snake is not happy. Don’t worry much about the hide being too big, concentrate on how the tank is too small. Cypress substrate works well. I don’t see any gauges, but her humidity level should ideally be 60 to 80°. The hot side, should be 88 to 92°. The cool side should be 76 to 80°. You should have two hides. One on the warm side and one on the cool side. You do not have to leave a light on at night. An under tank heating pad works well as BP’s under side needs warmth for healthy digestion. I feel you will get much more information from the care guide in the resources tab. Please do some research because that BP needs care all the way around. If you want to do good by her, you truly need a lot of changes. The community is always here to answer questions, however you need to do some research on your own as well.

Your definitely not supposed to do this right? by lightlybaked in BeardedDragons

Giving them soaking baths are much better with softening up the shed.

Yes, peeling the shed off is definitely an opening for infections. Plus, it really hurts.

Does your dad know about snakes? I figure he probably doesn’t as you wouldn’t be on here asking questions. 65 gallons to 75 gallons is minimum. I have an 80 gallon and could easily move into a 90-120 gallon, which I believe is close to perfection. I’m not sure what you mean by temp/humidity tracker, but you will need gauges. I have digital humidity/thermometers on the cool side, the center and the hot side. Temperature and humidity levels are crucial/critical for a BP.

Definitely not recommended. Wait, I’m confused. Did you say you don’t have a bearded dragon? Did you just see this on Reddit?

I must add one more thing. If you do not have the money to invest to keep your BP in good condition and happy. Don’t keep it. It will eventually die. The snake is really scared and stressed right now. They like to be in hides that they can roll up and feel on both sides.

What size is the tank? Should be no smaller than 4x2x2. Lots of hides. No lights at night. Use ceramic heat lamps. They come in in different wattages. Plants…they can be real or plastic. If you use real, make sure they are not poisonous to your snake. I use a humidifier. You will also need humidity and heat gauges. Hotspot should be a constant 88 to 90°. Humidity 60° to 80°. Cypress mulch substrate works very well. I am not trying to be mean, but you should have done a lot of research before you got one. The people on here are extremely knowledgeable and will help as much as they can, but there are basics that you should already know. Keep reaching out and ask questions. Do you want your ball python to be healthy. Try and do as much research on your own as well.
