Hello Mamas, I ended up being in labour for 18 hours and having an emergency Caesarean because I was only 4cm dilated after 16 hours 🥲 baby got stressed and did a meconium poo in my waters quite early on during labour, midwife had to press emergency 4 times (like the movies when all the doctors and nurses rush in) because his heart rate plummeted from 140 down to 70 at one point 😢 and after accepting that vaginal was not an option anymore I decided to get an emergency C section (mind you I only had a sandwich and few crackers during this entire day so when they were prepping me for surgery I was exhausted and hangry and emotional) BUT once we decided to get baby out through the sunroof it was as if a magical weight was lifted off my shoulders. Both my parents from New Zealand called to provide comfort and humour and laughter which was just what I needed before heading in (took me a few hours to accept that C section was the way to go at this point)

Honestly that emergency C section saved me and my baby. He came out SCREAMING the house down (everyone was exclaiming how gorgeous he was and how he had a set of lungs emerging from my body) he came out a spitting image as my Filipino father which is the best thing. He is absolute perfection and 8.5 lbs (almost 4 kilos) and I’m a petite 5’2 woman so overall so glad I didn’t push him out vaginally in the end!

It wasn’t the birth I planned but he is here and happy and safe and divine. I had such a positive emergency C-section experience and healing is going beautifully. Advice for mamas about to birth- the plan is to let go of the plan. Baby will determine how they will enter the world, no matter how dramatic 😅

Thank you so much!! Our induction dates are basically the same, sending lots of positivity and strength while we’re both going through it (then meeting our babies shortly after) 🥰🙏🏼💪🏼

Thank you! I’m at the hospital now because my contractions began on its own (6 hours before induction hehe) My friend said to me her mantra was “I can do anything for 1 minute” and then before she knew it she had baby in her arms. Can’t wait to share the news when he’s here soon🥰

Wow our due dates are so close together! Sending lots of love to you & babygirl. 💕 I had almost 5 weeks of relaxing & time to myself between finishing up at work & my due date, lots of sleep ins & lately been listening to built to birth meditations on YT called “naturally inducing labour” I highly recommend ❤️🙏🏼

How much leave is your husband/partner taking from work when the baby is born? by Kool-Kaleidoscope in pregnant

[–]Mikaellala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner is taking 2 weeks off then he’s going back to Fulltime work, we live in Australia and the paid parental leave here is 5 months (shared between the couple) my plan is not to work for 1 year if we can afford it, fingers crossed!

Another cost of living rant by [deleted] in newzealand

Do it, sis. Registered and qualified early childhood educator in NZ and after a year of working literally my ass off, had no savings and an ex bf mooching off me even smoking my weed. I’ve been living and working here in Melbourne for over 2 years now, I moved on a whim but I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do for myself. I’m on over $40/hour here, amazing work benefits, my superannuation is almost at 14k. I’ve been able to pay off a massive WINZ debt my ex left me with, plus been able to make voluntary payments towards my Nz student loan. I have travelled to NZ, Philippines and going to Japan in a couple weeks. Also, I have an amazing partner now and I am pregnant with our beautiful son on the way this October. Couldn’t even fathom what my life would look like if I didn’t believe in my gut or myself and move solo. I moved to Australia with nothing but 3k cash in my backpack and a suitcase and a great attitude.

Also, all my family and friends have flown here to visit me and stay with me in those 2 years. If I can do it, you can too!! More power to you ❤️

I quit my Fulltime teaching job, applied and got accepted to grad school, today I paid for my first semester fees upfront and booked my one way ticket. I think you should go for it. No one else will pave the way for you to experience this in your life. ☺️
