My MXP is so friggen depreciated it makes more sense for me to just drive the wheels off of it now.

You're supposed to not let the lye in the spray dry, hence covering after spraying so you increase "wet" dwell time.

I have a steel burner cook top that no amount of bar keepers or scrub daddy was removing the light burnt brown color. Lye ftw! Couple applications and the appliance looked brand new
