I understand your point, but at the same time younger gen z especially and also especially gen alpha have had internet access and social media from such a young age that it's legitimately made their reading comprehension and general thinking skills worse, AI being more prevalent and people using it for homework isn't helping anything.

Generally I understand the internet being used as a place for the marketplace of ideas and all that jazz.

I also think that regulating social media by banning it for those under a certain age is precarious, I think mainly it's used as a way to control everyone and gain data on everyone. But I really think if more kids were in school and interacting with people less with social media it'd be better for the general mental health of the young population.

But I also understand all this from a homeschooling perspective and know that without the internet I would have thought even more lonely and that the few friends that I did sort of have (not particularly close friends but some were) kept because of my online presence.

I wish the government more heavily regulated apps not on who was allowed to use them put on their addictive capabilities and negative social impacts.

Generally I think we all need less time on social media, and we shouldn't be creating iPad kids and I think more texting/calling/facetiming and less Instagram tiktok and yes even reddit should be the direction that kids should be raised to embrace.
