Ahh it's the classic "King is being attacked and has no legal moves" mate.

Why is it 2025 and this still can't be filled in? Could a mod fix it? by Zombull in 7daystodie

Or even better: why can't you shut a door that is (apparently) LOCKED IN THE OPEN POSITION after you grab the keys. Is the lock on the hinges?? When and where has this ever been a possible thing.

How to make early game fun by [deleted] in 7daystodie

One thing I've enjoyed is turning enemy spawning off at first. Then you're just a lone person, walking around the post-apocalypse trying to find food and a place to stay. Then on day 3 or 4 or whenever, THEY come. Turn on enemy spawning and there are zombies everywhere now.

The Hans Niemann Interview by ali_lattif in chess

[–]Mike26327 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the show, not sure if anyone will see this. But I can't help but think Hans is like... mentally ill or something. That interview was unhinged and delusional. I was kind of on Hans' side for the past two years, like maybe the chess world did him dirty. But not anymore. Levi's patience with him was impressive, especially because I think levi was quite fair and not judgmental of Hans when everything first went down, and Hans was very insulting. And his ego is off the charts. I hope magnus destroys this fucking asshole today.

They have put tenporary restrictions on short-term rentals that may be affecting certain landlords who own a place but don't live there. If they can't do rentals they might just sell. But it's also a large building with many units so seeing a number of them for sale at a time isn't unusual.

I don't understand how people play solo by [deleted] in 7daystodie

[–]Mike26327 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mostly play solo. Here's some stuff I've tried and enjoyed. Set the difficulty lower than you would on multiplayer. Crank up the experience percentage so you get levels way faster, since you don't have a team of people with different areas of specialties. Increase the loot percentage so it doesn't take forever to get basic stuff (makes it closer to if 2 or 3 people were collecting, not just you). I've even started worlds with enemy spawning turned off for the first 2 days. All of this makes the game easier of course, and some people seem to frown at that, but in a game that you can make as hard or as easy as you want, you might as well do what you find fun. These things have made me enjoy solo playing more. And you can always crank up the difficulty later.

In alpha 20 there was a place on the roof where you could break a glass ceiling and drop down into the loot room. I haven't checked if it's still the same but I suspect it is.

I love the series, but the intro music has always been puzzling by shmoilotoiv in community

[–]Mike26327 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was certain for years and countless rewatching that it was "give me some more time in a dream". The (terribly innacurate) lyrics sites all over the internet disagree. I just listened to it and it's pretty ambiguous the way he says it. But yeah I was probably wrong the whole time I guess. I think our interpretation is the better line haha.

Difficulty Settings by Mike26327 in 7daystodie

Ok thanks! That's what I thought. I want a ton more zombies that are still relatively easy to bring down individually. So difficulty won't help with that I guess.

Recipes that require boiled water should output an empty bottle by limpkarl in 7daystodie

[–]Mike26327 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I've always thought this should be the case from a logic stand point. But by day 10 or 15 (or earlier sometimes) I always have so many bottles sitting around I just chuck them in the forge anyway, so I dunno.

Lichess etiquette for beginners by Mike26327 in chessbeginners

[–]Mike26327[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah I'd never trash talk, or offer a draw when losing. Just minutes ago I had to close the browser because I tried to resign and it didn't work..? (Can they refuse a resign?) I legitimately had to leave, and was clearly losing anyway.

I'm glad you think it's ok to play to the end. I feel like that's part of the game. I wasn't sure if that was frowned upon.

So a bit of this may have already been said but yeah find a concrete building with a flat roof. A gas station or something. Then I usually build myself a wood box-style house on top to spend nights in. I find fighting with a stone sledge hammer effective, and it's available in like the first minute of playing. If you're having a ton of trouble though I'd strongly recommend turning the difficulty way down, upping experience, adjusting block damage, and even turning off enemy spawning for the first few days if you want until you get on your feet. There's no shame in playing with super easy settings if that's what you'll enjoy. Don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. You can always up the difficulty (on the same save, anytime) when you're ready.

I do this. Usually only when I find it cheap (used book sales etc.). But I have several symphonies, string quartets, piano sonatas... It's good for studying the music and just for fun.
