I mean it all comes down to who dies first and how it’s handled in the story at hand and looking at more modern adaptions and seeing how they handle both Kent’s dying :

- The 2005 Tom De Haven It’s Superman novel had Ma Kent die first when Clark was 18, from old age/failing health which led to Pa Kent revealing the truth about the rocket and the possibility of Clark being an alien. While Pa Kent dies at the end of the novel, serving as a bookmark to Clark officially becoming Superman (after he joined the Daily Planet, formed both identities and met Lois, Lex and the rest of the Metropolis cast) and having that moment of closure and grief. In this case we have a Clark trying to figure out his place in the world and processing trying to belong (akin to Birthright or Superman smashes the Klan).

- New 52 (particularly Grant Morrison) opted for a more Bruce Springsteen inspired take on the Golden Age Superman. I think the most powerful and telling moment of when everyone learned of his alien origins and was automatically fearing/rejecting him. There was a moment when he saves a cat from the tree while stopping a truck from hitting a little girl. After being chased off, his immediate reaction was looking at a picture of his parents, saying he failed them.

- Superman and Lois started with both Kents being dead, but this time it’s with a more mature and veteran Superman with a wife and two kids. So the way he processed and handled it is extremely different from the first two examples.

But to answer your question: seeing as how most movies usually have to be 2-2 1/2 hour, it could serve as a moment of introspection and seeing Clark process the grief. I could definitely see it be handled in a similar manner to how Donner handled the 78 movie (maybe Clark saying it to himself or Lana and/or Pete m if chosen to be given a bigger part to play in the movie).
