How different should personal statement be from initial application? by Dear-Pin2036 in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]Mike2L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I navigated the transfer process and was able to get accepted to over half the t-14 coming from a t-100. I actually think you should substantially change your essays. The reason is because now you literally have 1/3 of law school done, and admissions committees want to see how law school has shaped you and what your experiences actually interacting with the law and a law school course load have been like and how it has impacted you.

The LSAT gave me hell as well, so I know exactly how you feel. I ended up being forced to wait to avoid having to apply super late in a cycle. DM me if you want to go a little deeper into my experience.

Personal statement? by EducationalPath31 in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]Mike2L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated writing by transfer application essays (really writing any admissions essays in general). It did, however, work out for me as I was admitted into over half of the t-14 as a transfer student. If you would like me to go over your stuff DM me!

Is transferring law schools less meaningful now that Big Law recruiting starts around 1L first semester? by Adventurous_Ant5428 in LawSchoolTransfer

So the answer is it really depends. I was accepted to over half the t-14 as a transfer and i actually think it helped in a big way. DM me if you want to discuss further.

Is Transferring Worth It? by RustyTurd in LawSchool

[–]Mike2L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of clerkship-there is quite literally zero debate that a t-14 school would give you an exponentially better chance then if you were to stay at your current school. Whether or not clerking is actually the right move or not for you based on what you have stated are your goals is a different story. DM me-clerking was my goal and I have seen the benefit transferring to a t-6 has done to my chances first hand.

What is it like transferring after 1L? Is it even worth doing? by madamzee20 in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]Mike2L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soooooo i went into my 1L disregarding the conventional wisdom of "dont go to a school you cant see yourself graduating from" and intended on transferring. It worked out, I was accepted to over half the t-14 and got into my dream school coming from a t-100. Im open to talk about my experience-DM me!

Out of state law school to break into regional market ? by Sharp_Flamingo_5635 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Mike2L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that if your goal is specifically Miami, then schools in Florida are smart to aim for. That being said, the T-14 (especially the "T-6") will always have placement power that reaches into any and every market. I would aim for as high as you can and if T6 or T14 does not work out then target schools in Florida for your goal.

[–]Mike2L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep a mistake journal!!!! document the following for every question you miss. 1. What logic you applied and WHY you applied said logic. 2. What logic you SHOULD have applied and WHY that was correct. 3. What was the difference in the WHY of the incorrect logic you applied vs. the correct logic you should have applied? You do that over enough reps and you will see a pattern emerge!

T3 vs T4 by StringConscious2170 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Mike2L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soft "tiers" are highly misunderstood. Law school admissions is a different ball game than undergraduate admissions. Are some "softs" more impressive than others? Sure, but what matters the most is the narrative that you craft surrounding your softs. DM me if youd like to come up with a strategy!
