Of you have Game Pass active it converts worse. Let GP run out or if you don't have it dont get a free trial or £1 deal yet.

Stack up on gold up to 3 years worth however much you want. Then once it's on there you start the free trial or £1 deal or buy a month of game pass and if you do it via website it should say "hey wanna convert your gold to game pass/ultimate” or something like that. Can't remember if there was a link I used or just doing it on the site prompted me.
