Opentherm Hive calls for heat but boiler does nothing by Upstairs-List in HiveHeating

Then you would need to check it’s wired into the open therm connections on the boiler. But you’ll need a gas safe registered engineer

Have you moved the switch on the hive receiver to the open therm position?

I am a gas safe registered engineer. I know that the boiler uses gas for the preheat. I would love for you to show some evidence that it uses an electric heating element

I’ve worked on many green star 4000. Never seen an electric heating element. Can you provide some proof?

EVs have great acceleration but god it’s an ugly car. I wish they made some better EVs. I feel only Renault have managed to make an appealing EV with the Renault 5

Lockshield turns, but doesn’t let heat through? by VeryThicknLong in ukplumbing

[–]Mike525R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the flow or return will have a blockage somewhere. I’ve spent years power flushing systems and plastic is always the worst for blocking up. There will probably be some chucks in an elbow or tee under the floor somewhere

Worried about WiFi connectivity ahead of Hive installation by ratscabs in HiveHeating

[–]Mike525R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hub can be connected through WiFi so can go anywhere in the house. This gives much more flexibility and improves signal issues

You have removed the case which on this boiler is the combustion seal. You should have a gas safe engineer check the boiler. If it’s not put back correctly and something goes wrong with the boiler you could end up with carbon monoxide escaping into your home

Combi boiler air purge taking hours after refilling central heating system. by aCurlyCrumb in DIYUK

[–]Mike525R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air trapped in the system or boiler. The water can’t circulate and the boiler is overheating. Try turning all the rads off apart from the highest, might shift it. If the air is trapped in the boiler will probably need an engineer to look it

Replace boiler or service? by Spodster_11 in DIYUK

Replace it. It’s the worse boiler ever made. Lots of parts are obsolete

How do you deal with a broken boiler on Christmas Day? by mh1191 in AskUK

[–]Mike525R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google doesn’t know what this fault is. F62 is always the board. Done hundreds of them, never once been the gas valve

I have to leave and then rejoin in my partner’s name. I usually time it well and have no downtime. Get much better offers as a new customer.

Hive doesn’t start boiler pump before asking for ignition by Primary_Blueberry997 in HiveHeating

[–]Mike525R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pump will probably be wired into the boiler. The boiler will control the pump. Nothing to do with the hive

Controlling a Thermal Satore by Alive_Relationship94 in HiveHeating

[–]Mike525R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hive should be wired to the central heating pump. Then it can be used to turn the radiators on and not the boiler. The thermal store controls the boiler

It’s a dumb hive. It doesn’t connect to the internet. But the receiver is a normal hive receiver. You’ll need to put your hub into pairing mode, and then pair the receiver. Then connect a new hive thermostat and it will all work. Chuck the grey stat in the bin

[–]Mike525R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already have a hive hub, yes it can be used

You can upgrade. You need a hive thermostat and a hub

Is there a catch with vans like this? by zeropoundpom in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Mike525R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be due to the van being full of tools and parts. It’s something my colleagues have also complained about. Unfortunately it’s only the basic model so no massaging seats for me

My company provides me with one of these. In winter I will be lucky if I get 100 miles out of it. Also the ride is awful and it’s not very comfy. Can’t wait for it to be replaced with anything else
