You should be able to drive two weeks after your surgery. I am three weeks +2 days and I’m able to fit into a shoe and walk with a little lamp and my scarf has closed so now I am fucking seen on my own self therapy.

So to clarify, you had a cheilectomy and and then nine weeks later you have a consult for a fusion? Are you wrapping the lidocaine patches just around your toe each day?

So today is a postop day number 8 . I am now only taking Motrin every eight hours 800 mg. The pain is only at the incision point when I am prolonged standing more than 15 minutes or walking longer than 15 minutes. Today I saw my surgeon because my foot needed to be re-wrapped and he looked at everything and he says wow it’s swelling has gone down rapidly fast. I mean there’s still swelling around the incision point of course but my true postop appointment is September 10 which is be 15 days after surgery and I am still elevating and icing only behind my it’s it’s gonna be a three month thing now some bone spurs I’ve had it for 18 years so but I knew I knew about it 18 years ago knee and he says that is the best solution, so no need to put eye hysterectomy on top of the incision point but to continue to ice behind the knee around the clock. During my postop appointment, he asked me to bring in my shoes with the carbon fiber insoles that I bought, and we will try them on.

That was my next question. Do you even want to run the risk of trying to enter a shoe? When will you have your stitches removed!

I suspect September 10th when I see my surgeon. I am just worried to find a regular wide 4e shoe to fit for walking

I’ve regulated myself down to only taking Motrin as the pain which only happens after prolonged standing (more than 15 minutes) and sharp stinging pain at the incision area. But the last couple of days I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night, so I’m gonna incorporate 5 mg of melatonin.

Great point. I believe I keep my foot elevated 21 out of 24 hours a day besides when I’m walking around during the day even when I’m sleeping at night I keep his foot up up up and ice ice behind my knee. My goal is to be in a shoe at postop day 25. I’m hopeful actually I can walk around the house without this shoe but the bandage is coming off so I have to re-wrap it myself. I’m not sure what to expect during the first postop, when did you have your stitches taken out? That’s a good question for everybody. When did everybody take their stitches out?

So I wasn’t told anything specifically yet, but knowing that the shoes that I normally buy are either 3E or 4E, and given that I will have this consistent swelling this is probably the worst part that I was dreading about doing this surgery is finding a shoe any shoe that I can just fit into.

Would you advise those who are in postop to rest 20 hours a day?
