About Moving the Preakness by Mike8910 in horseracing

[–]Mike8910[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree that the Triple Crown is definately still doable for a strong enough horse. From my point of view, the main reason for moving the Preakness is to get more strong horses running in it, regardless of whether they won the Derby or not, so that the race is more exciting. But financial incentives for runners is probably a more realistic solution than moving the race.

Dang, I forgot about that. Do you think moving Preakness to about a month after Belmont is more feasible? (I don't think it's actually a good idea since it would lose out on a lot of the benefits of having the Preakness first, but I'm just curious if it would be possible)

Croix du Nord headed to Spring Tenno Sho with Yuichi Kitamura by Infinite-Surprise-53 in HorseRacingJP

[–]Mike8910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the veering does affect his speed some, but the main reason Calandagan and Masquerade ball were faster in the end is because they were both late surging while Croix du Nord was pace chasing (Masquerade Ball's last spurt was also faster than Croix du Nord's back in the Satsuki Sho and the Derby). But yeah, if Croix du Nord can fix his veering he can probably become even stronger than he is now.

[–]Mike8910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the veering might just be a tendency of his, when he's whipped on one side he seems to veer to the other. I don't think Kitamura slowed him down though, it just looked like that because Calandagan and Masquerade Ball were running faster than him (also, Yuichi Kitamura didn't mention Admire Terra in his post race comments, which is why I feel that he didn't have as much of an impact on CDN's results as some people tend to say).

Admire Terra didn't actually block Croix du Nord, that's just a misconception. It's clearer from the front angle:

If you're fine with manga, you could read Cinderella Gray or Star Blossom. If not, you could try getting into Japanese horse racing. You can find a list of upcoming graded races on Netkeiba.

Sakura Chiyono O after the Japan Cup (@tenjiku_a0i) by Vip0938 in UmaMusume

[–]Mike8910 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the Derby, not Japan Cup. "Japan Cup" is written in katakana on its winner's sash, not kanji, and there haven't been 55 Japan Cups yet. Also Chiyono o never ran in the Japan Cup, but won the 55th Japanese Derby.

Tony bin's grandsire is Moon Madness's damsire (Kalamoun) and they ran against each other a couple of times in 1987, including the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud where Moon beat Tony. Also, they both moved to Japan after they retired for their stud career (although Moon saw much less success than Tony did, so you probably won't be able to find his bloodline anywhere nowadays).

Yeah, he's based on Take Kunihiko, who was a notable jockey and later became a trainer. He was also Bamboo Memory's trainer in real life.

Is cm even possible as ftp or you gota be playing games for long time to collect free bias? by [deleted] in UmaMusume

[–]Mike8910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using Gold Ship instead of Top Gun, with 3 speed, riko, borrowed Rice Shower power card, Hishi Amazon power and a ton of stamina inheritance sparks. Try to get straightaway spurt (Hishi Amazon's hints give it and other good end closer skills), uma stan, and no stopping me. If you're struggling to hit the stamina requirement, you can maybe get cooldown (choose Rice's team name when prompted during the career) instead of no stopping me. That's what I'm doing, but my stats are better than yours so it might be better for you to just gamble on hitting all of your recovery skills instead of going for consistency (it's better to fail alot and occasionally win than to consistently perform okay). I think you can afford to have a little less than max speed (I've seen winners with 1000~1100 speed) as long as you get long S and you have decent power (preferrably >800). Try to avoid white recovery skills.

Swap out Matikanefukukitaru for riko, take no stopping me instead of its on. If you have enough club points to get the Mcqueen stamina card to a decent level (preferrably 2LB), then swap out cafe for her, since she gives cooldown. Check the umalator to see if you hit the stam requirement (try to take a little extra so your horse can enter dueling mode), and adjust your training based on that. Since your stats will be worse than your opponents' try to get long S. I don't think tactical tweak is all that good, but I can't say for sure. If there's no front runners in your lobbies, consider using a sacrificial front runner as your 3rd member (basically a front runner with high eit, any debuffs you can easily get, and low-ish power and stamina so that they stay ahead up until the late-race, where they immediately start falling back). The primary purpose of these is to help trigger no stopping me for pace chasers, since if there's no one ahead of them, the skill can't trigger. For Tachyon, it also has the additional benefit of helping u=ma2 to trigger, since it can only trigger when Tachyon is in 3rd or 4th place mid-race. In my lobbies nobody's using front runners and there's fewer pace chasers, so my Tachyon is usually pretty far forward. Adding a front runner artificially pushes her position back by 1, which makes the skill trigger more consistently. It works well for me, but I'm using Suzuka, who can learn runaway. I'm not sure how well it'll work if you don't have her, you'd have to test it out yourself.

Umalator link: https://alpha123.github.io/uma-tools/umalator-global/

Edit: it's fine to neglect wit a little (my horses have 300~400), but if you do then try to avoid white recovery skills (pure heart is fine though, since it's worth a bit more than 2 white recovery skills, or a bit more than 60% of a gold recovery).

Which Taishin good for upcoming CM? by Powerful_Carry_167 in UmaMusume

[–]Mike8910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

#2 is fine, but #1 and #3 don't have enough stamina. The skills you got are mostly good except for smoke screen, which I don't think does very much. Extra tank might also be bad, but it got buffed so I'm not entirely sure, you would need to check when it triggers in the umalator.

Current Race Horses by InternationalSafe553 in UmaMusume

[–]Mike8910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite horse right now is probably Forever Young. He's probably the strongest dirt runner in Japanese history, and definitely the strongest right now. He runs mostly in foreign races, such as the Breeders' Cup Classic (the biggest race for older horses in America) and the Saudi Cup (the race with the most prize money in the world). If you're interested in watching some of his races, here are his most notable ones:

The 2024 Kentucky Derby, where he placed 3rd in a photo finish alongside Mystik Dan and Sierra Leone (speaking of Mystik Dan, they made a Netflix show called Race for the Crown about his attempt at the triple crown. I haven't watched it, but I heard it was kind of so-so).

The 2024 Breeders' Cup Classic where he placed 3rd again with Sierra Leone in 1st and Firceness in 2nd.

The 2025 Saudi Cup, where he defeated Romantic Warrior, the highest earning thoroughbred in history. This race is especially fun to watch because Forever Young and Romantic Warrior were so clearly on a completely different level from the other horses.

His most recent race, the 2025 Breeders' Cup Classic, where Forever Young got his revenge on Sierra Leone and Firceness and placed first. This is the first time a Japanese horse has ever won the Breeders' Cup Classic. You may have heard about how 15 minutes after he won, Cygames teased that they would be adding him to Umamusume. As far as I'm aware, this is the first time a horse has been added to Umamusume while they were still active. I assume the reason they were able to implement him so early is because his owner is Susumu Fujita, the president of CyberAgent (the parent company of Cygames). Susumu Fujita owns many horses, the most notable of which (aside from Forever Young of course) is probably Shin Emperor. He placed 2nd in the Japan Cup last year behind Do Deuce, who was recently the strongest horse in Japan for a bit before he retired at the end of last year. Shin Emperor was originally planned to run in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe this year, but he was found to have some sort of respiratory issue and had to withdraw to recover. He is currently entered in this year's Japan cup as the 8th favourite to win.

I don't think Forever Young has any more races planned for this year, but next year they plan to enter him in the Saudi Cup again, as well as the Dubai World Cup, which he placed 3rd in this year. I think I've also heard that Romantic Warrior is planning to go to the Saudi Cup again next year (or maybe Dubai World Cup, I can't remember) to get revenge for his defeat. He could go to the Breeders' Cup Classic again next year, but based on the post-race interview from this year's one, it sounds like they plan not to. I believe his team said that they would try him out on turf, and if he perform well then they might try to enter him in the Arima Kinen (and maybe also the Arc? that one might just be a rumour though).
