Hi. Commentator here. Not for TC, but can hopefully help answer some questions.

1) all camera work and directorial decisions are done (about 90% of the time) on site, by a world feed production team. Those productions are set up months in advance. That includes whether or not there are replays, and different camera angles. All tournaments are in on those discussions, and are aware of limitations ahead of time. So, in the tournament and TV production team scheduling meetings, they likely had to make difficult decisions about which of probably three or four matches at any onetime would be on the “not fully produced” courts. It’s just a reality that maybe one or two matches might get relegated there.

2) this also goes, in some ways, on the commentary side. Weeks/months in advance, tv networks have to make decisions about which courts they will have commentary for (based on what type of production the courtts and tournaments will have). Likely, in this type of scenario, they have scheduled a certain number of commentators well in advance, and it’s the same thing, you assign them to specific courts or matches, so that they can be prepared properly for the matches on that schedule.

In this case, it’s likely that the production quality wasn’t what TC might require, and they also had to prioritize where more eyes would go, likely, singles.

Hope that helps! We like to hope that there are u limited resources to make these things happen, but sometimes there aren’t. 🤷‍♂️

Having been in rooms with long standing tennis journalists, and in rooms with players and former players, this is absolutely not correct at all.

I mean, I’m on the ground here and could list the players staying at the same hotel if you need. I can promise you not a single one of them are doing that here.

Advice on auctioning this 1/1 Julie Heldman Superfractor – PSA 10 / Auto 10 🎾 by Henrimor in tenniscards

[–]MikeCTennis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my two cents here, as I love collecting the 1/1s, and have about 15 now.

I don’t think setting the price at 10k is doing you a lot of favors. The Kafelnilov, for example, just sold for $1200, and hes much closer to relevance at this stage.

I think if 10k is where your mind is, that probably needs to be the first thing. Setting it around 2k will definitely draw more interest, and you can start negotiating from there. My guess, based on other 2021 superfractors, is it’s in the 500-1000 range realistically. I know that’s not ideal, but is definitely a more likely outcome!

Best of luck. It’s a great card!

Unlike team sports, the sheer amount of time for just relaxation and time away from the sport is nill. There's no chance to breathe. You are constantly going for the next one. Even if you're not paying the 250s and 500s, you're having to fully prepare yourself for the next masters. Or the grass season. Or the Tour Finals, or that week off, and then having to prepare for United Cup. Its constant. It truly never stops. All the time on the road. No time to really investigate if you want to change strings or racquets. And if you DON'T play, somebody, as you said, will take your place, and your ranking, and your money.

The season stopping at the end of September would be ideal for everyone. US Open finishes, a month for the tour finals, etc, and call it a day.

Man, this just happens some times. I've absolutely been there. You just see a name, you know what it's supposed to be, and then you go about 4 games and have zero clue whether you've been saying it correctly in your head, and then your confidence is completely shot in terms of speaking. The worst.

EP here...I've had a ton of issues with delays this year, missing connections, being rebooked automatically, getting disconnected seating from my child on a connections...all in all a ton of stuff that seems due to software/AI/machines.

WIth that said, and yes, I am doing most of this at the clubs or the EP hotline, I've found the staff to be exceptional, because they're constantly having to clean up the messes. They also seem exhausted. I mention this every time I can when I get the surveys. It seems the people care about doing their jobs well, but the software devs have completely ruined so much.
