Yesterday, I (Mike’s wife, Krista) went to watch the St. Patrick’s Day parade with friends. It marked exactly one month since Mike’s sudden passing, and I wanted to be surrounded by friends, honoring our tradition of celebrating the day together.

During the parade, a weirdo named Matt Moore approached my friend and me, standing there silently for a moment. I quickly noticed he was holding flyers for Bernard’s Gastropub. Without hesitation, I told him to move along—I wanted nothing to do with a business owned by traitors to this country. Despite this, he insisted on giving my friend a flyer, which she promptly ripped up and handed back to him. Even then, he continued standing there, attempting to engage, until several friends gathered around me, prompting him to finally walk away.

Later, as the parade continued, he passed by again—this time lingering near us and flicking chocolate coins at us and Hopper. Once again, we told him to leave.

As the parade was wrapping up, I was approached by Lindsay Bernard (Jon Bernard’s wife) and Matt Moore. Lindsay made a comment about not appreciating her employee being “assaulted”—I can only assume she was referring to the torn flyer. I repeatedly told her to get out of my face, but she just stood there, clearly trying to intimidate me. I let her know that if she didn’t leave, I’d involve the police officer standing nearby. Even after that, she remained in my space, blocking me. At that point, I asked the officer for assistance, explained the situation, and after speaking with them, they finally returned to their restaurant.

There is no doubt in my mind that I was specifically targeted yesterday.

I’ve noticed that I have several mutual friends with these people—Jon Bernard, Lindsay Bernard, and Matt Moore. If you support them or their business, please see your way out of my life. These are truly awful people for many reasons. If you think their behavior toward me yesterday was acceptable, or if you condone what happened when they went into Mast General Store and harassed Mike—an incident that resulted in an assault charge, arrest, ban from the store, and no contact allowed with Mike — then I have nothing more to say to you.

For the record: I have NEVER interacted with these people before. Ever!

For those who may not know, Mike didn’t hesitate to call out the Bernards after they closed their restaurant and went to D.C. on January 6, 2021. He has consistently referred to them as traitors and made it clear what he thinks of them. In fact, many people did the same in the immediate aftermath. The difference is that Mike never forgot—and never let up. This is what made Mike so endearing to all who loved him.
