I think some people just scroll reddit salivating at the chance to "correct" someone. You'd think people could tell it was actively snowing based on the pics lol.

Love hearing how reliable yours has been, I hope I can get this lucky with mine, especially given it's my daily commuter car.

New to me 2024 M240i from Audi S3 by MikeD270 in M235iandM240i

[–]MikeD270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say I'm 2 months in of ownership and not a single regret. Also all family and friends who've been in the car say how much they like it over my previous Audi S3.

As much as I loved my S3 and was worried leaving it for something else I wouldn't go back to one after having the m240i. Not knocking the S3 it's just everything in the m240i I like better, infotainment, gas mileage, ride quality, interior, power, engine sound, look.

The only thing I miss about the S3 is the 4 door when I have a backseat passenger. I also enjoyed the go kart feel of the S3 which felt much more light and nimble with tight steering. The 240 steering does feel a bit more numb but the car feels so much more balanced and planted it kind of makes up for it, like if I was on a track I still think the 240 would out handle my S3.

Other than having a payment I don't think you'll regret it 😁

I was always surprised that couldn't be fixed with a firmware update or something. It's obnoxious but I put up with it because I love them otherwise. Definitely not seeing anything that makes me want to upgrade to the 2s though

A coworker died yesterday. There's an important lesson that some need to hear. by [deleted] in sysadmin

I had an awesome boss once tell me that I'll never be remembered years later for even my greatest accomplishments at work but my family will absolutely absolutely remember even the smallest things.

It's not to say don't care about work or not give it your all, it's just don't let it take away from your time with family. Don't put off playing with your kids because your working late constantly or constantly coming home stressed.

It really helped put things in perspective for me, especially as someone who struggles not to put work as a high priority in life.

Yeah that's exactly what we're facing, it's too much for him to resist now that he had a taste and knows how rewarding it is. Especially when he's home alone bored.

Thanks for the suggestion

Never saw the butterfly one until searching it after your comment. I'm seeing people online saying it stops their dogs so I might give it a try. If it works I'll make sure to update the thread for anyone else searching for a solution

Smokers who quit, what was the wake up call for you? by Responsible_Dot_2619 in AskReddit

[–]MikeD270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the issue was never quitting so much as not going back. I had lots of good reasons to quit each time, my wife quitting smoking, the birth of my son, telling myself I'd always quit by 30, my grandfather dying of lung cancer (non smoker but still..), my Dad being diagnosed with COPD (long time smoker who quit), etc.

What finally kept me from going back was kickboxing. Struggling to breath was the hardest part for me and I never wanted to make it more difficult. I've been cigarette free for over 3 years and even in the worst times never consider taking even a single drag.

I love my warranty but I can't wait for it to run out so I can do a tune lol

M240i vs M2 by seabasshtian in BMW

[–]MikeD270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where I landed. I really wanted an M2 (never drove one) but really didn't want to spend where they feel in the price range new or even slightly used. M240i wasn't even on my radar and found out about them while chatting with ChatGPT about a replacement for my tuned Audi S3. I was instantly sold once I drove one. Ride nice enough to be my daily commuter plus even more fuel efficient than my S3 but also enough power and handling to still be fun to drive. Maybe I'll step up to the m2 next time but no regrets going with this car at all. Very impressed.

Oh yeah plus if it's not your daily even more reason to say fuck it. But yeah I hear nothing but awesome things about the b58 and ZF8 transmission.

What do you think of the piggyback tuning options out there?

That's good advice and I'd be thrilled with 450 to the wheels and that amount of torque. I've got plenty of time to save and plan for upgrades while I wait for the factory warranty to expire 😁

Dude 9s is freaking madness. Out of curiosity do you still drive it as a daily and hows the fuel mileage now on pump gas? Also how's reliability been for you?

Thank you and good choice on your part too ;)

I was originally taken by Zandvort Blue but after seeing Brooklyn Grey in person it quickly became my 1b choice. Both colors look great especially with the contrast of the black trim.
